Understanding the SmartPower™ LED Feedback

The SmartPower™ LED is an important safety and control feature built into the ActivaPatch® IntelliDose™ 2.5. It provides visual feedback to both the clinician and the patient, confirming that the patch is functioning correctly and delivering the drug effectively. View ACTICApatch Family of products 

While the specific light patterns can vary slightly depending on the exact model, the LED typically serves these primary functions:

  • Confirmation of Start: The LED usually lights up (e.g., flashes green) to confirm the patch has been correctly activated and the treatment circuit is complete.

  • Optimal Performance Check: The microprocessor in the patch detects skin resistance to ensure optimal drug delivery. The LED confirms that the current is flowing correctly through the skin.

  • Circuit Interruption/Error: If the patch begins to delaminate (lift off the skin) or the skin resistance is too high, the microprocessor will detect the change. The LED may change color (e.g., turn red or flash differently) or turn off to signal a problem. This allows the patient to verify and re-secure the patch to complete the treatment safely.

  • Treatment End: Since the patch automatically shuts off via the SHUNT™ technology when the dose is complete, the LED may also turn off or change color to signal that the therapy is finished and the patch can be removed.
