Parker Laboratories SignaCreme® Electrode Cream is a highly conductive, cosmetic-quality cream electrolyte designed for compatible electromedical procedures where a cream consistency is preferred over a conventional electrode gel, paste, or spray.

SignaCreme provides the conductive interface needed between intact skin and compatible electrodes while using a smooth white cream base designed with patient comfort and easy application in mind.

Parker currently offers SignaCreme in a 170 g / 6 oz dispenser bottle (17-05) and a higher-volume 1.9 L / half-gallon refill system (17-20).

SignaCreme is nonsterile, bacteriostatic, and not recommended for defibrillation.

Choose 17-05 when a compact dispenser is more practical.

Choose 17-20 when a clinic regularly uses conductive cream and wants to refill smaller working dispensers rather than repeatedly replacing individual bottles.

Why Choose an Electrode Cream Instead of Gel?

Electrode creams and electrode gels serve a similar fundamental purpose: creating an electrically conductive interface between compatible electrodes and intact skin.

Their handling characteristics are different.

Neither consistency is automatically superior. The appropriate conductive medium should be selected according to the electromedical device, electrode, procedure, and manufacturer instructions.

SignaCreme vs. SignaGel

SignaCreme and SignaGel are both Parker conductive contact media, but they are not interchangeable products with different names.

Choose SignaCreme when a cosmetic-quality cream consistency is desired.

Choose SignaGel® Electrode Gel when the workflow calls for multipurpose saline electrode gel.

What Is SignaCreme Used For?

Parker recommends SignaCreme for electromedical procedures other than defibrillation when a cosmetic-quality conductive cream is preferred.

The exact procedure and application method should be determined by the instructions supplied with the electromedical device and electrode.

SignaCreme functions as an electrode conductive medium: it helps provide an electrical interface between the electrode and intact skin.

It is not an ultrasound transmission gel, adhesive electrode paste, abrasive skin-preparation product, or general-purpose moisturizer.

Is SignaCreme Used for ECG or EKG?

SignaCreme belongs to the electroconductive-media category used with compatible electromedical equipment.

For ECG/EKG workflows, confirm that the electrode and ECG equipment instructions permit a separately applied conductive cream.

Is SignaCreme Appropriate for EMG?

SignaCreme may be used in compatible electromedical workflows when the device and electrode instructions allow a cream electrolyte.

For EMG procedures requiring Parker's multipurpose saline gel specifically, SignaGel Electrode Gel is another option and is explicitly positioned for EMG.

Do not substitute one contact medium for another solely because both products conduct electricity.

SignaCreme Is Not Recommended for Defibrillation

This is one of the most important product-selection distinctions.

SignaCreme should not be used for defibrillation procedures.

If a defibrillation workflow requires a separately applied conductive gel, select only a product specifically approved by both its manufacturer and the defibrillator manufacturer for that application.

SignaGel is Parker's conductive gel product that includes defibrillation among its listed applications when compatible equipment instructions permit it.

17-20 Bulk Refill System

The 17-20 configuration includes:

• 1.9 liters / ½ U.S. gallon of SignaCreme
• 2 refillable dispensers
• 1 dispenser pump

This package is best suited to clinics that regularly consume conductive cream.

The refill system allows working dispensers to remain convenient at the point of care while reducing the number of small bottles that must be purchased.

Refill-Dispenser Hygiene

SignaCreme is nonsterile.

Parker's current instructions state that the dispenser-bottle tip and refill-pump tip should not contact the patient, staff, or instruments in order to reduce contamination risk.

Use only on intact, unbroken skin.

Discard the product if its packaging is damaged or contamination is suspected.

Parker instructs users not to use SignaCreme on patients with a known history of sensitivity to parabens.

Is SignaCreme an electrode gel?

SignaCreme is an electrode cream, not a conventional electrode gel. Both are conductive contact media, but they have different consistencies and manufacturer-listed applications.

Is the 17-05 bottle 5 oz or 6 oz?

Parker's current catalog and FDA GUDID identify 17-05 as 170 g / 6 oz. Some older distributor databases still display the former or rounded 5 oz description.

How many 17-05 bottles are in a manufacturer box?

Parker packages 12 bottles per box.

What does 17-20 include?

17-20 contains ½ U.S. gallon / 1.9 liters of SignaCreme, two refillable dispensers, and one dispenser pump.

Is SignaCreme sterile?

Can SignaCreme be used with TENS?

Should SignaCreme be added to self-adhesive TENS pads?

Generally, self-adhesive hydrogel electrodes already contain their own conductive medium. Follow the electrode instructions rather than adding separate cream unless the manufacturer specifically permits it.

No. SignaCreme conducts electrical signals between compatible electrodes and the body. Ultrasound gel is formulated to transmit acoustic energy between an ultrasound transducer and the skin.

How should the dispenser be kept clean?
