Parker SignaSpray® Conductive Electrode Solution & Skin Prep—18-25, 18-28 & SIGNASPRAYPAC
Parker Laboratories SignaSpray® Electrode Solution and Skin Prep is a highly conductive, non-gritty spray electrolyte designed to prepare intact skin and improve electrical contact for compatible electromedical procedures.
Unlike a thick electrode gel, cream, paste, or abrasive skin-preparation product, SignaSpray is applied as a light spray before compatible electrodes are positioned. The water-soluble formula is bacteriostatic, non-staining, easy to clean, and designed to leave minimal residue.
Current product information recommends SignaSpray for electromedical procedures other than defibrillation and specifically identifies compatibility with muscle stimulation, TENS, EMS, IF, and other electrotherapy equipment when permitted by the equipment manufacturer.

SignaSpray vs. Electrode Gel
SignaSpray and conventional conductive electrode gel perform related—but not identical—jobs.
| Feature | SignaSpray | Conductive Electrode Gel |
|---|---|---|
| Format | Liquid spray | Gel |
| Conductive medium | Yes. | Yes. |
| Skin-prep function | Yes. | Usually secondary |
| Application | Spray onto intact skin. | Apply gel directly. |
| Residue | Designed for minimal buildup | Depends on formulation |
| Large-area application | Convenient | More manual |
| Best reason to choose | Fast, light conductive skin preparation | Longer-lasting gel interface |
| Defibrillation | No | Product dependent |
Choose SignaSpray when a sprayable conductive skin-preparation medium is preferred.
For a conventional saline electrode gel, compare Parker SignaGel® Electrode Gel.
SignaSpray vs. SignaCreme
Both are conductive media, but their handling is very different.
| SignaSpray | SignaCreme | |
|---|---|---|
| Consistency | Liquid spray | Cream |
| Application | Spray over skin. | Apply cream. |
| Skin-prep positioning | Primary feature | Conductive cream |
| Bulk package | Gallon / SIGNASPRAYPAC | Half gallon |
| Ideal workflow | Fast, broad, low-residue application | Cream consistency preferred |
| Defibrillation | No | No |
Choose SignaSpray when fast spray application matters.
Choose SignaCreme® Conductive Electrode Cream when a cosmetic-quality cream electrolyte is preferred.
SignaSpray vs. Spectra 360
The distinction is especially important for TENS and muscle stimulation.
| Feature | SignaSpray | Spectra 360 |
|---|---|---|
| Format | Spray solution | Gel |
| Main benefit | Conductive skin prep + spray application | Long-lasting conductive gel |
| Salt/chloride-free | Not primary positioning | Yes. |
| TENS | Parker currently lists TENS among compatible applications. | Specifically positioned for TENS |
| Rubber/carbon electrodes | Follow electrode IFU. | Preferred Parker gel for these electrodes |
| Long-duration contact | Not a primary differentiator | STAY-WET® formulation |
| Defibrillation | No | No |
For prolonged conductive contact or conductive rubber/carbon electrodes, compare Spectra® 360 Electrode Gel.
SignaSpray vs. NuPrep Skin Prep Gel
These products should not be treated as substitutes simply because both use the term “skin prep.”
| SignaSpray | NuPrep | |
|---|---|---|
| Texture | Conductive liquid spray | Mildly abrasive gel |
| Conductive medium | Yes. | Skin-preparation product |
| Abrasive | No / non-gritty | Yes, mildly abrasive. |
| Muscle stimulation | Parker specifically recommends SignaSpray. | Weaver says not to use NuPrep with current-inducing electrodes. |
| Main purpose | Conductive contact + skin prep | Lower electrode-site impedance for monitoring |
| Remains as a conductive interface | Can remain during compatible procedure | Excess prep is generally removed before electrode placement. |
Use NuPrep Skin Prep Gel for its manufacturer-listed EEG, ECG, and monitoring skin-preparation workflows.
Use SignaSpray when a non-gritty conductive spray electrolyte is appropriate for the electromedical equipment being used.
Can SignaSpray Be Used With TENS, EMS, or NMES?
Parker's current product information specifically includes TENS, EMS, IF, and muscle stimulation among SignaSpray's compatible electromedical applications.
That does not mean every electrode requires additional conductive solution.
Many modern self-adhesive TENS/NMES electrodes already contain their own conductive hydrogel. Do not add SignaSpray beneath a self-adhesive electrode unless the electrode and stimulator instructions allow it.
SignaSpray can be especially relevant in workflows using compatible reusable electrodes or other stimulation interfaces that call for a separately applied conductive medium.

18-25—250 mL / 8.5 oz Spray Bottle
REF 18-25 is the most practical configuration for individual treatment rooms and portable use.
The clear bottle allows staff to see the remaining solution level without opening the container.
Parker packages 18-25 as 12 bottles per manufacturer box.
18-28 — 1 Gallon Refill Configuration
REF 18-28 contains one gallon / 3.8 liters of SignaSpray and a refillable spray dispenser.
The dispenser pump is not included with 18-28.
That distinction should be clearly visible in the variant selector because a pump is included with the complete 18-04 SIGNASPRAYPAC.
18-04 — SIGNASPRAYPAC
The current Parker SIGNASPRAYPAC includes:
- 4 one-gallon containers of SignaSpray
- 2 refillable spray dispensers
- 1 dispenser pump
This is the most economical Parker configuration for facilities maintaining multiple treatment rooms or consuming electrode solution routinely.
How Is SignaSpray Applied?
Parker's current instructions are straightforward:
Apply SignaSpray to intact skin and then position the compatible electrodes according to the electromedical-device instructions.
The exact quantity and electrode configuration should follow the instructions supplied with the equipment rather than a universal spray count.
SignaSpray Is Water-Soluble
After use, Parker states that SignaSpray can be removed using a soft cloth moistened with water.
That gives SignaSpray a different cleanup profile from adhesive conductive gels and electrode pastes designed to remain tacky during procedures.
For a broader selection of contact media, browse Balego's Conductive Gels, Lotions & Contact Media.
Important: SignaSpray Is Nonsterile
SignaSpray is a nonsterile conductive medium.
Parker's current instructions limit application to external use on intact, unbroken skin.
Do not apply it to open wounds or compromised skin, and discard the product if the package is damaged or there is evidence of contamination.
SignaSpray Is Not for Defibrillation
Parker specifically contraindicates SignaSpray for defibrillation procedures.
Do not assume that every electrically conductive medium can be used interchangeably with a defibrillation gel.
When a defibrillation workflow requires a separately applied electrolyte, use only a product specifically permitted by both the conductive-medium manufacturer and the defibrillator instructions.
Proper Refill Technique
Bulk refill containers require a controlled hygiene process.
Before refilling a SignaSpray bottle:
- Use or discard the remaining contents—do not top off a partially filled bottle.
- Wash the reusable container with hot soapy water.
- Rinse and thoroughly dry it.
- Clean the bottle neck and dispenser tip with isopropyl alcohol or an appropriate hospital-grade disinfectant immediately before refilling.
- Refill only the correctly labeled SignaSpray bottle.
- Mark the bottle with the bulk-container lot number and expiration date.
- Discard cracked or damaged dispensers.
The spray nozzle and bulk dispenser tip should not contact patients, staff, or instruments.
