Richmar InTENSity™ Select Combo DI8195 | TENS, EMS, IFC & Microcurrent
The Richmar InTENSity™ Select Combo DI8195 combines four electrotherapy modalities—TENS, EMS, Interferential Current (IFC), and Microcurrent—in one portable dual-channel device.
Its distinguishing feature is the combination of conventional sensory-level TENS, contraction-oriented EMS, interferential stimulation, and very-low-current microcurrent in the same handheld system. Richmar rates the Select Combo for output up to 105 mA and supplies both a standard 9V battery and AC adapter, allowing treatment without relying exclusively on rechargeable internal power.
This is also an important distinction from the newer Select Combo II: DI8195 includes microcurrent, while DI2195 uses Russian stimulation instead.
Prescription device: Richmar identifies DI8195 as Rx only. Use according to the prescribing clinician's directions and the complete manufacturer's instructions.
Four Electrotherapy Modalities in One Portable Device
| Mode | Full name | Primary device function |
|---|---|---|
| TENS | Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation | Sensory-level electrical stimulation used within prescribed pain-management programs |
| EMS | Electrical Muscle Stimulation / NMES | Motor-level stimulation for prescribed muscle contraction and neuromuscular applications |
| IF / IFC | Interferential Current | Medium-frequency electrotherapy with an adjustable interference or beat frequency |
| MIC | Microcurrent | Very-low-amplitude electrical stimulation measured in microamp/milliamp ranges |
The unit is for applications including pain relief, muscle re-education, increasing local circulation, and maintaining range of motion.
For a broader explanation of sensory TENS versus motor-level muscle stimulation, see our TENS vs. NMES guide. For interferential terminology and carrier/beat frequencies, see Balego's IFC Frequency Guide.
Why Choose the DI8195 Instead of a Basic TENS Unit?
A dedicated TENS machine can be the more economical choice when sensory pain-management stimulation is the only prescribed modality.
The Select Combo makes more sense when one treatment program requires access to multiple types of electrical stimulation without keeping several separate portable devices.
| Requirement | Basic TENS | DI8195 Select Combo |
|---|---|---|
| TENS | Yes. | Yes. |
| EMS/NMES muscle stimulation | Usually no | Yes. |
| Interferential stimulation | No | Yes. |
| Microcurrent | No | Yes. |
| Two independent channels | Common | Yes. |
| Adjustable clinical parameters | Varies | Yes. |
| AC adapter operation | Varies | Yes. |
If TENS alone is required, browse our TENS units and accessories rather than buying additional modalities that will not be used.
DI8195 vs. DI2195: Which InTENSity Select Combo Is the Right One?
Despite the similar names, the original Select Combo and Select Combo II are not the same electrotherapy device.
| Specification | Select Combo DI8195. | Select Combo II DI2195 |
|---|---|---|
| TENS | Yes. | Yes. |
| EMS / NMES | Yes. | Yes. |
| IFC | Yes. | Yes. |
| Microcurrent | Yes. | No |
| Russian stimulation | No | Yes. |
| Power | 9V battery or AC adapter | Rechargeable lithium-ion battery |
| Maximum TENS/EMS output | Up to 105 mA | Up to 100 mA |
| Generation | Original Select Combo | Second-generation Select Combo |
| Best reason to select | Microcurrent requirement | Russian stimulation + rechargeable battery |
Choose DI8195 when microcurrent is specifically part of the prescribed treatment plan.
Choose the InTENSity Select Combo II DI2195 when rechargeable operation and Russian stimulation are more useful than microcurrent.

More Than 14 Stimulation Programs
More than 14 programs across the four modalities.
Rather than forcing one electrical waveform to perform every task, DI8195 separates the modalities and provides multiple operating patterns within them.
For example, TENS includes Burst, Normal, and modulation options, while EMS provides Synchronous, Alternate, and Delay sequencing.
That programmability is one of the reasons DI8195 remains different from a basic portable TENS-only device.
Electrode Detection Helps Identify an Open Circuit
The DI8195 includes an electrode/open-circuit detection function. If the amplitude has reached 12 mA or greater and the device detects an open circuit on a channel, output on that channel resets to zero.
An open circuit may occur when:
- An electrode is not firmly connected
- A lead wire has become disconnected;
- electrode adhesion is poor;
- The pad or lead wire is worn;
- A connector is not fully inserted.
This feature should not be interpreted as a substitute for inspecting the electrodes, wires, and skin contact before each session.
What's Included?
Each DI8195 kit includes:
- InTENSity Select Combo electrotherapy unit
- hard carrying case
- two 45-inch lead wires
- one 9V alkaline battery
- AC power adapter
- four reusable self-adhesive electrodes
- instruction manual
Richmar identifies the standard accessory numbers as CC5081 carrying case, WW3005 lead wires, TA5013-I battery, EP2020WC2-INTM electrodes, and DI0001X AC adapter.
Replacement cables are available from us as the WW3005 45-Inch TENS/NMES Replacement Lead Wire Pair.
For replacement pads and alternative sizes, compare Balego TENS/NMES/FES Electrodes or browse the complete electrotherapy electrode collection.
9V Battery or AC Adapter
Unlike the rechargeable Select Combo II, DI8195 operates from a standard 9V alkaline battery or the included AC adapter.
That offers two practical operating choices:
| Power option | Practical advantage |
|---|---|
| 9V battery | Portable operation without an outlet |
| AC adapter | Avoids consuming the battery during stationary sessions |
A rechargeable 9V battery and compatible 9V charger as optional accessories.
Important Microcurrent Difference
Microcurrent is not simply a lower-intensity setting within ordinary TENS.
The DI8195 manual describes its microcurrent mode as a very low-current modality and provides three microcurrent programs.
This matters when comparing DI8195 with newer portable combination devices. If a clinician has specifically prescribed or selected microcurrent, verify that the replacement unit actually includes it rather than assuming every four-mode electrotherapy device does.
The Select Combo II, for example, includes Russian stimulation instead of microcurrent.
Browse our Microcurrent equipment collection for other products in this modality category.
Interferential Current in a Portable Device
The Select Combo also provides interferential stimulation rather than limiting the system to conventional TENS and muscle stimulation.
Its manual identifies a fixed 4,000 Hz carrier on Channel 1, with the second carrier adjusted to generate an interference frequency from 1 to 150 Hz. TENS Pros
For customers comparing portable IFC options, we maintain a complete Interferential Therapy Machines collection.
Safety and Prescription Use
DI8195 is a prescription electrotherapy device. Richmar instructs users to follow the full contraindications, warnings, and electrode-placement guidance in the device manual.
Do not choose a modality, intensity, or electrode placement solely from a retail product page. Use the parameters prescribed or recommended by the qualified clinician responsible for the treatment plan.
