Chattanooga Nylatex® Wraps — Reusable Therapy Wraps in 12 Sizes
Chattanooga Nylatex® Wraps are reusable, stretchable therapy wraps designed to hold compatible cold packs, thermal packs, and electrodes in position without requiring separate metal clips.
The laminated nylon-and-rubber construction combines stretch with an integrated hook-and-loop attachment system: the closure tab can engage the pile surface of the wrap at different points, allowing the length and overlap to be adjusted for the application.
Each standard Chattanooga Nylatex size is supplied as a package of three wraps. The separate 1200 assortment contains nine different sizes for facilities that want a broader starting selection.
Important: Nylatex contains natural rubber latex and should not be used for patients with known latex allergies or sensitivities.
Which Nylatex Size Should I Choose?
The best size is determined by two dimensions:
Width controls how much surface area the wrap covers. Length controls how far it can travel around the pack, body area, or treatment setup.
| Width | Practical selection guidance |
|---|---|
| 2.5 inches | Narrowest option; useful when a wide wrap would be unnecessarily bulky |
| 4 inches | General-purpose middle width |
| 6 inches | Broadest coverage for larger packs or broader treatment areas |
Then choose enough length to comfortably position the therapy item while providing the overlap needed for the hook-and-loop closure.
| Length | Practical selection guidance |
|---|---|
| 18 inches | Shortest circumference / compact applications |
| 24 inches | Intermediate narrow-wrap option |
| 36 inches | General-purpose length |
| 48 inches | Greater circumference or additional overlap |
| 60 inches | Longest configuration for the largest setups |
These descriptions are practical sizing guidance rather than calibrated compression recommendations. Nylatex does not provide a specified medical compression level in mmHg.

The 1200 assortment contains nine wraps, one each of:
| SKU | Size |
|---|---|
| 1202 | 2.5" × 18" |
| 1204 | 2.5" × 36" |
| 1206 | 2.5" × 48" |
| 1208 | 4" × 18" |
| 1210 | 4" × 36" |
| 1212 | 4" × 48" |

| 1216 | 6" × 36" |
| 1218 | 6" × 48" |
The assortment does not include 1264, 1213, or 1219.
This makes 1200 particularly useful for therapy departments that want several widths and lengths available without purchasing a three-pack of every configuration.
Use Nylatex to Hold a Chattanooga ColPac in Position
One of Nylatex's primary manufacturer-listed purposes is holding reusable cold packs in place.
We carry the Chattanooga ColPac® Reusable Cold Therapy Pack in multiple shapes and sizes.
The two products perform different jobs:
| Product | Function |
|---|---|
| ColPac | Provides the cold-therapy source |
| Nylatex Wrap | Helps hold the pack in position |
Nylatex itself does not become cold and should not be described as a cold pack.
Do not overtighten the wrap around a cold pack. Follow the cold-pack instructions for protective barriers, treatment duration, and skin monitoring.
Nylatex with Moist-Heat Packs
Nylatex can also be useful for positioning compatible thermal packs when the pack manufacturer's instructions allow it.
We offer Chattanooga Hydrocollator® Moist Heat HotPacs for professional moist-heat workflows.
However, a Nylatex wrap is not an insulating HotPac cover.
When using a hydrocollator hotpack, the appropriate thermal barrier remains essential. Our Hydrocollator All-Terry Covers are designed specifically to provide insulation around compatible HotPacs.
| Accessory | Primary role |
|---|---|
| Nylatex | Positioning / securing |
| All-Terry Cover | Thermal insulation / protective barrier |
Do not substitute Nylatex for the insulating cover or towels required by the HotPac instructions.
Can Nylatex Hold Electrodes?
Yes, Chattanooga has historically specified Nylatex for securing compatible reusable electrodes and maintaining electrode positioning during appropriate electrotherapy procedures.
Nylatex itself is not conductive.
The electrode, conductive medium, lead wires, and stimulation device must still be used according to their respective instructions. Do not place Nylatex over self-adhesive electrodes simply because additional pressure seems desirable unless the electrode/device workflow permits it.
For replacement stimulation pads, browse our Electrotherapy Electrode selection.
Nylatex vs. a Generic Elastic Wrap
| Feature | Chattanooga Nylatex | Generic elastic bandage |
|---|---|---|
| Reusable | Yes. | Usually |
| Stretchable | Yes. | Yes. |
| Integrated hook-and-loop closure | Yes. | Product dependent |
| Metal clips required | No | Sometimes |
| Designed around therapy-pack/electrode positioning | Yes. | Usually general support |
| Multiple fixed widths and lengths | Yes. | Varies |
| Contains natural rubber latex | Yes. | Product dependent |
| Calibrated compression level | No | Usually no |
Nylatex is particularly useful when repeatable fastening and convenient repositioning matter more than simply owning a general elastic bandage.
Nylatex Is Not a Calibrated Compression Garment
Although Nylatex is useful for compression, positioning, and support, the wrap does not provide a specified therapeutic pressure, such as 20–30 mmHg.
It should therefore not be marketed as a substitute for a medical compression stocking, lymphedema garment, or other device designed to deliver a prescribed pressure range.
When securing a thermal pack, use only enough tension to maintain safe positioning without impairing circulation.
Natural Rubber Latex Warning
Nylatex contains dry natural rubber latex.
Patients with latex allergy or sensitivity should not use the product.
This warning should remain visible on the Balego product page and should not be hidden only in the specifications accordion.
Reusable Clinical Format
Nylatex wraps can be reused according to applicable care instructions, making them particularly useful in physical therapy, rehabilitation, and athletic-training settings where therapy packs need to be positioned repeatedly.
Colors may vary between light and dark blue depending on current manufacturer production.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many Chattanooga Nylatex wraps come in a package?
Each individual-size SKU contains three wraps.
The 1200 assortment contains nine wraps in nine different sizes.
Is Nylatex the same as an ACE-style elastic bandage?
No. Both products stretch, but Nylatex uses an integrated hook-and-loop attachment system designed around repeated positioning and therapy applications.
Does Nylatex stick to the skin?
No. The closure engages the wrap material rather than using adhesive against the skin.
Does Nylatex contain latex?
Yes. Nylatex contains natural rubber latex.
Can Nylatex hold a ColPac?
Yes. Holding cold packs such as Chattanooga ColPacs in position is one of the manufacturer's primary listed uses.
Does a cold pack come with Nylatex?
No. Unless a specific bundle explicitly states otherwise, the Nylatex SKU contains only the wraps.
Can it be used with a Hydrocollator HotPac?
It may be used for positioning compatible thermal packs when allowed by the pack instructions, but it does not replace the insulating HotPac cover or towel barrier.
Can Nylatex secure stimulation electrodes?
Chattanooga has specified Nylatex for securing compatible reusable electrodes. Follow the electrotherapy device and electrode instructions for the complete setup.
Which is the most versatile width?
The 4-inch width is the middle option between the narrow 2.5-inch and broad 6-inch models and is a useful general-purpose starting point when the application does not require either extreme.
Which is the longest Nylatex wrap?
Chattanooga's current U.S. storefront lists 1213 at 4 × 60 inches and 1219 at 6 × 60 inches.
Why do some websites refer to 1213 and 1219 as 56 inches?
Some Enovis/distributor data feeds still contain 56-inch descriptions, while Chattanooga's current U.S. storefront uses 60 inches / 152 cm. The SKU and current package labeling should control when exact replacement sizing is critical.
What sizes are missing from the 1200 assortment?
The assortment does not include 1264 (2.5 × 24), 1213 (4 × 60), or 1219 (6 × 60).
Is Nylatex a compression bandage?
It can provide tension and support, but it does not specify a calibrated compression level and should not be marketed as a prescribed graduated-compression product.
Latex and use notice: Nylatex contains natural rubber latex. Use the wrap only as an accessory for compatible therapy products and equipment. Avoid excessive compression, and follow the instructions supplied with the thermal pack, electrode or treatment device being secured.
