AdvanTrode® Elite Tan Tricot Electrodes are reusable, self-adhering electrotherapy pads designed for clinics and home programs that require flexible cloth-backed electrodes, a wide range of sizes, and reliable current distribution.

Each electrode has a silver-coated carbon conductive film, a 35-mil dual-layer hydrogel, and a flexible tan-tricot topcoat. A reinforced pigtail wire with molded socket connects to compatible pin-style electrotherapy lead wires.

Choose from compact 1.375-inch round pads, versatile 2-inch round and square pads, elongated oval and rectangular formats, or large-area electrodes measuring up to approximately 4.25" × 7".

Silver-Coated Carbon Conductive Film

The conductive layer combines carbon film with a surface-applied layer of silver. Its purpose is to distribute stimulation across the usable electrode area rather than concentrating output near the pigtail connection.

The silver layer is part of the current-distribution system. It should not be confused with an antimicrobial coating unless that feature is expressly identified on the packaging.

The 0.035-inch dual-layer hydrogel provides the adhesive and conductive interface between the pad and intact skin.

The thicker gel construction is designed to support:

• Secure electrode-to-skin contact
• Repeated applications by the same user
• Conformability over body contours
• Comfortable electrode removal
• Consistent current transfer during treatment
• Storage and reuse when the pad is returned to its liner

Actual pad life varies. Skin oils, perspiration, treatment frequency, handling, storage, and the application area all affect how long an electrode remains usable.

Tricot is a soft knitted fabric used as the backing layer of the electrode. Compared with a more rigid backing, tan tricot can flex as the body moves and conform around curved treatment areas.

It is particularly useful when:

• The electrode is placed over a rounded contour.
• The pad needs to move with the skin.
• A low-profile cloth backing is preferred.
• The clinic wants multiple shapes made with the same backing material.
• Foam padding is unnecessary.

"Tan tricot" describes the electrode’s backing—not its adhesive formulation or electrical polarity.

Each TENS electrode has an attached wire ending in a soft molded socket. A compatible lead-wire pin inserts into this socket.

The attached pigtail design provides:

• Separation between the lead-wire connection and adhesive pad
• Easier connection without handling the hydrogel

Each case contains ten individually packaged sets. Standard sizes contain four electrodes per package, while the largest formats contain fewer pads per package.

Electrode selection should begin with the treatment area, device instructions, required coverage, and available skin surface.

At the same device output, a smaller electrode concentrates stimulation over less skin area. A larger electrode spreads it across a broader surface.

Choose an electrode that:

• Fits completely on clean, intact skin
• Remains flat without folding or wrinkling
• Does not overlap another electrode
• Matches the device and clinician’s placement instructions
• Provides the intended coverage without extending into an unsafe location

These are pigtail-style stimulating electrodes. They require a compatible lead wire with a pin that fits into the molded electrode socket.

Before purchasing, verify:

The electrode-side connector and device-side connector are separate compatibility questions. A lead wire may fit these pads but still fail to fit the stimulator.

These are not:

• Diagnostic ECG or EKG electrodes

• Defibrillation pads

• Dry reusable carbon-rubber electrodes

The stimulation is generated by the connected electrotherapy device. The electrode provides the conductive interface between the device and the skin.

1. Turn the electrotherapy device off or set every channel intensity to zero.
2. Inspect the treatment area.
3. Apply only to clean, dry, and intact skin.
4. Remove oils, lotions, and topical products that could reduce adhesion.
5. Connect the lead-wire pin to the molded electrode socket.
6. Remove the electrode from its liner by lifting the backing—not by pulling the pigtail wire.
7. Apply the full hydrogel surface smoothly to the skin.
8. Press around the electrode so that the edges remain flat.
9. Connect the lead wire to the device.
10. Increase intensity gradually according to the device and treatment instructions.

Do not place electrodes so close together that their edges touch.

Proper storage helps preserve the hydrogel between applications.

Do not pull the electrode off the skin by its attached wire. Repeated wire pulling can damage the pigtail or connection between the wire and conductive film.

There is no fixed application count that applies to every user.

Replace the electrodes when:

• The pads no longer stay adhered.
• The edges repeatedly lift during treatment.
• The hydrogel has dried, torn, or become contaminated.
• The gel surface is uneven or missing.
• Stimulation feels sharper or even less than usual.
• The wire or molded socket is loose.
• The output cuts in and out when the lead moves.
• The backing is torn or permanently folded.
• Skin irritation develops.
• The pads were used by another person.

Do not attempt to repair an electrode with tape, adhesive, conductive gel, or household materials.

Use AdvanTrode Elite electrodes only with a compatible electrotherapy device and according to the device manual, current product labeling, and clinician instructions.

Do not apply the electrodes:

• Over broken, infected or severely irritated skin
• Through the head
• Over the front or sides of the neck
• Across the chest
• Where the current pathway could affect the heart
• Over an area with severely impaired sensation without professional supervision
• In any location prohibited by the electrotherapy-device instructions

Turn the device off before connecting, repositioning, or removing electrodes.

Stop treatment if stimulation causes burning, sharp pain, unexpected muscle movement, persistent irritation, or another unusual response.
