TheraMed Professional Moist/Dry Heating Pad

The TheraMed® Professional Dual Moist-Dry Heating Pad combines electric dry heat and moisture-assisted heat in one reusable pad.

Use the pad dry for straightforward electric heat, or use its dampened sponge insert when moist heat is preferred. A one-button hand controller cycles through four heat settings—Warm, Low, Medium, and High—with color-coded LED indicators, while an automatic shutoff ends the heating cycle after approximately 40 minutes.

Choose the 12" × 15" Medium HP1215 for a more compact treatment area or the 12" × 24" King HP1224 when broader coverage is useful. Both models use the same basic moist/dry design and controller system.

The medium is the better fit when a smaller electric heating surface is easier to position and store. Its 12" × 15" format keeps the full 12-inch width while reducing excess pad length.

The King maintains the same 12-inch width but adds nine inches of length. It is therefore the more practical option when the user wants broader longitudinal coverage from a single pad.

The King does not provide a different heat-setting system or a higher therapeutic category. Its principal difference is coverage area.

The TheraMed's defining feature is that the same electric heating pad supports either setup.

That distinction is important because the TheraMed works very differently from our water-conditioned Hydrocollator Moist Heat HotPacs and HydraHeat Hot Packs.

Start with a lower setting and follow the instructions supplied with the current product. Heat perception and burn risk depend on the setting, contact, moisture, skin condition, pressure and individual temperature sensitivity.

The controller is intentionally simple.

The user presses one button to move through the available levels, and the LED color indicates the selected setting:

Green → Warm Yellow → Low Orange → Medium Red → High

The controller is ergonomically designed and specifically emphasizes the one-button interface.

This is a meaningful differentiator for users who prefer a straightforward physical control instead of a touchscreen, app, or complex program menu.

The unit automatically turns off after approximately 40 minutes, which matches the treatment-time specification in the manufacturer's technical sheet.

The shutoff is a safety feature, not an instruction to use the pad continuously for 40 minutes in every situation.

Treatment duration should still reflect the current product directions and individual circumstances. Do not portray the timer as making unattended or sleeping use appropriate.

The TheraMed and our reusable hot and cold gel packs overlap only in their ability to provide heat. Their workflows are entirely unique.

The reusable gel packs can be heated or cooled according to their instructions, while TheraMed is a dedicated powered heating system.

For clinics, the Hydrocollator HotPac system may be the more useful comparison.

A clinic that repeatedly needs multiple treatment-ready moist packs may prefer our Hydrocollator Heating Units. A clinic or individual wanting one electric pad without maintaining a heated water tank may prefer TheraMed.

An 8-foot cord provides more reach from the outlet than a short appliance cord.

The cord is useful for positioning, but it should not be presented as a reason to stretch the cable tightly across a room or create a trip hazard. The value is simply greater placement flexibility around a chair, treatment table, or resting area.

The pad uses an extra-soft 100% polyester removable cover, which is machine washable.

That distinction should be stated carefully:

The removable fabric cover is machine washable.

Do not shorten the claim to “machine-washable heating pad,” because that can imply the electrical heating element and controller can be placed in a washing machine.

Follow the care directions supplied with the current product for washing and drying the cover and cleaning the electrical pad itself.

Size recommendations should be based on the amount of surface area required rather than claims that a particular pad “treats” one diagnosis better.

Because both versions are 12 inches wide, the purchasing decision is mostly about how much length is useful.

Powered heat can cause burns when used improperly. The four product settings exceed ordinary skin temperature, so users must follow the manufacturer's instructions instead of treating the color settings as universally safe.

In particular:

• Do not assume the 40-minute shutoff makes sleeping with the pad appropriate.
• Avoid folding, crushing, or sharply creasing a powered heating pad during use.
• Do not place excessive body weight on top of the pad.
• Check skin regularly.
• Stop for burning, unusual redness, blistering, pain, or excessive heat.
• Use extra caution when temperature sensation is reduced.
• Do not combine a heating pad with a topical analgesic unless that product's labeling expressly permits external heat.
