Match the instructions to your device label and supplied booklet; do not assume every similarly named listing describes the same equipment.

Before using the unit
Follow your clinician’s placement, settings, intensity, and session instructions. Do not use this device with a cardiac demand pacemaker. Do not place stimulation across the chest, through the head, over the neck or mouth, or over unsuitable skin or cancerous lesions. Read the complete contraindications and precautions in the booklet; this is not an exhaustive list.
Recent surgery, altered sensation, other implanted equipment, and medical conditions require appropriate review against the device instructions. Do not use stimulation while driving or doing anything where an unexpected contraction could cause injury. Stop for burning, sharp pain, significant skin irritation, or an unexpected reaction. How to set up the Balego NMES BAL805
1. Begin with both intensity knobs OFF.
Turn both top knobs fully counterclockwise to OFF before connecting, moving, or replacing anything. Inspect the housing, output sockets, cables, and pads. Do not use damaged equipment or electrodes that cannot maintain full contact.
Slide open the battery cover as shown in the booklet. Fit the specified 9V battery with the correct polarity, remove any plastic terminal seal, and close the cover without forcing it. A new battery with its insulating seal still attached cannot make the intended electrical connection.
2. Connect one complete electrode pair per active channel.
Each lead assembly connects one channel to two electrodes. One active channel uses two pads; two active channels use four. Do not connect one pad to each channel and treat those two pads as a complete pair. Leave an unused channel OFF.
With both knobs still OFF, connect the leads and pads, then apply them to clean, dry, intact skin in the locations your clinician identified. Follow the electrode instructions. 3. Power on at minimum output and review the settings.
Once the pads are secure, turn the required channel knob only far enough clockwise to switch it on at minimum output. The corresponding CH1 or CH2 indicator appears. Press MODE to select the instructed mode, then SET to select a parameter. The arrow buttons change the value that is flashing.
The front buttons edit the program; the top knobs control intensity and power. Do not confuse increasing a displayed pulse setting with increasing the channel’s amplitude. The booklet states that a selection is stored after two seconds. Review the entire program before increasing output, including any settings retained from previous use.
4. Adjust intensity only as instructed.
Increase the active channel’s knob gradually according to your clinician’s directions. In a cycling mode, allow for the next active phase rather than turning the knob up to compensate for a programmed rest period. Do not force a stronger contraction through pain.

5. Finish with both knobs OFF.
A completed timer stops output, but the knobs are still the power controls. Turn both fully OFF before removing pads or disconnecting leads. Peel electrodes from an edge instead of pulling on their wires, then store reusable pads as their instructions direct. Do not leave the device running while changing placement.
Constant, Synchronous, and Alternate: What to Expect
The manual’s mode descriptions distinguish the pattern of stimulation from each channel’s intensity. Alternate means alternating between channel pairs, not between the two pads attached to one lead.

Constant mode and a continuous timer are different choices. One describes the stimulation pattern; the other removes the timed session limit. Neither label authorizes unrestricted or unattended use. For the fuller explanation, see our Balego ramp, Alternate and Constant settings guide.
Why a setting may not be available
First check that the intended value is flashing and that the selected mode supports it. The following restrictions come from the linked V1.0 booklet, not from a proposed treatment schedule.
ON time includes both ramps.
In synchronous and alternate modes, ON time includes ramp-up and ramp-down. It must be at least twice the ramp setting. Alternate also requires OFF time to be equal to or longer than ON time. A rejected combination can therefore be a programming limit rather than a broken button.
Timer increments change above 15 minutes.
The documented timer advances in one-minute steps from 1 to 15 minutes, then five-minute steps from 15 to 60 minutes, with a separate continuous option. For example, 17 minutes is not one of the documented selections. Do not round an instructed duration or change modes on your own to make a program fit.
Pulse settings have their own increments.
The booklet lists pulse rate at 2–150 Hz in 1 Hz steps and pulse width at 50–300 microseconds in 10-microsecond steps. A requested value must fit both the range and the increment. How to view treatment history without clearing it
The booklet describes capacity for up to 60 operation records and 999 cumulative hours. These are device-use records, not measurements of contraction strength, correct placement, or rehabilitation progress.
For a records-only check, disconnect the patient leads while both knobs are OFF. Hold MODE while switching the unit on at minimum output. Use the arrows to move through individual records. From that view, press MODE to see the accumulated record, then turn both knobs OFF when finished.
Viewing and deleting use different commands. Do not hold SET or use the SET-and-MODE combination merely to inspect history: the booklet assigns deletion functions to those actions. Do not clear records to troubleshoot a missing contraction or an unfamiliar setting.

Balego NMES troubleshooting: the next appropriate check
Turn both knobs OFF before reseating a connector, changing a battery, replacing a pad, or inspecting a lead. Do not test exposed contacts, bend a live cable to reproduce a fault, or open the enclosure.

For a replacement cable, compare the exact device and connections with our 45-inch TENS/NMES lead-wire listing and electrode-connector guide. A pad’s electrode-side connector does not establish that every device-side lead will fit.
Battery, charging, and routine care
The BAL805 uses a replaceable 9V battery; it does not charge that battery inside the stimulator. Chapter 20 discusses a separately purchased rechargeable battery used according to its battery-and-charger instructions. That is different from a built-in rechargeable device.
Confirm a suitable replacement, charge a rechargeable battery outside the unit with its matching charger, and never attempt to recharge an ordinary disposable battery. Do not connect a charger to an electrode socket. Switch both knobs OFF before removing the battery and remove it for extended storage.
Keep the stimulator out of liquids. Follow the device instructions for the housing and leads and the electrode instructions for the pads. Reusable electrodes are still single-patient supplies. Replace pads that no longer adhere; that does not mean the reusable stimulator itself must be discarded. Our electrode product page identifies the available sizes and connections.

Similar product names do not establish identical controls. This comparison identifies the correct support route; it is not a recommendation to replace a working device.

What to send us when you need product support
Use our product-support contact page with the order number, device label, and a description of the equipment concern. Identify which channel is affected, when the problem occurs, and the battery type. When practical, include a photograph of the device label and display with no patient attached.
Report the mode and displayed units as well as the numbers: pulse rate, pulse width, ramp, ON/OFF timing, and timer selection. Avoid a message that says only “it is on 20.” Do not send unnecessary medical history in a general inquiry. Treatment changes belong with the treating clinician; equipment and order identification can begin with our team.
