Chattanooga CPM Machines | OptiFlex Knee, Shoulder, Ankle & ARTROMOT E2 Elbow
Choose a continuous passive motion (CPM) machine by the joint being treated and the level of control required. This page includes Chattanooga's OptiFlex K-1 knee CPM configurations, OptiFlex S shoulder CPM, ARTROMOT E2 elbow CPM, OptiFlex ankle CPM, and replacement OptiFlex K-1 hand controls.
These are prescription-use powered rehabilitation devices. Setup, range-of-motion limits, speed, treatment duration, and progression should follow the prescribing clinician's instructions rather than a generic equipment protocol. FDA's current device records classify the Chattanooga OptiFlex CPM family as prescription-powered exercisers.

Which Chattanooga CPM machine should you choose?
| Model | Joint | Key reason to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| OptiFlex K-1 2025 | Knee | K-1 platform with standard digital pendant |
| OptiFlex K-1 2026 | Knee | K-1 platform with simpler Classic hand control |
| OptiFlex K-1 2028 | Knee | Most feature-rich K-1 Comfort controller |
| OptiFlex S 2029 | Shoulder | Multi-axis shoulder motion with adjustable chair |
| ARTROMOT E2 2038 | Elbow | Flexion/extension plus pronation/supination |
| OptiFlex 2027 | Ankle | Dorsal/plantar flexion plus inversion/eversion |
| K-1 pendant only | Knee K-1 | Replacement control; the CPM machine is not included. |
The major buying decision is therefore not simply “which CPM is best?” Each machine is anatomically configured for a different joint, and the three K-1 knee variants primarily differ in their hand-control capabilities.
Chattanooga OptiFlex K-1 Knee CPM
The OptiFlex K-1 is Chattanooga's compact knee-specific CPM platform. All three complete-unit configurations use the same basic machine architecture, with a range of -10° extension to 120° flexion, speed adjustment from 25° to 180° per minute, adjustable pauses, and a reversible footplate for shorter legs.
The unit measures approximately 38 × 14 × 9 inches, weighs about 23 lb, and accommodates patients approximately 4 to 6.5 feet tall.

The current replacement pendant identifies the Classic as the simplest controller, Standard as the intermediate digital controller, and Comfort as the most feature-rich option.
Choose Classic when straightforward CPM control is the priority. Choose Standard when timer, warm-up, and load-management functions are useful. Choose Comfort when the clinical workflow calls for the additional protocol and documentation functions.
Patient softgoods are separate from the current K-1 variants on Balego.
Replacement OptiFlex K-1 pendants
The pendant-only options are replacement controls and do not include a CPM machine.
Do not select a pendant based solely on appearance; compatibility should be confirmed against the OptiFlex K-1 model and current Enovis replacement-parts documentation.
OptiFlex S Shoulder CPM – 2029
The OptiFlex S Shoulder CPM combines a dedicated shoulder-motion mechanism with an adjustable chair and universal left/right configuration. Its synchronized motors support multiple planes of shoulder motion while the chair folds for transport.
Published ranges include:
| Shoulder movement | Published range |
|---|---|
| Adduction / abduction | 0° – 30° – 175° |
| Internal / external rotation | 90° – 0° – 90° |
| Flexion / extension | 0° – 30° – 175° |
| Horizontal adduction / abduction | 0° – 0° – 125° |
The unit weighs approximately 55 lb and provides adjustable speed, pause, timer, warm-up, and reverse-on-load functions.
The control pendant and patient data chip card are standard accessories; Chattanooga literature treats the fleece patient kit as a separate/optional accessory.
ARTROMOT E2 Compact Elbow CPM – 2038
The ARTROMOT E2 provides powered elbow flexion/extension together with manually configured pronation/supination positioning.
| Elbow parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Extension / flexion | -5° to 140° |
| Pronation/supination | -90° to 90° |
| Pause | 0–30 seconds |
| Speed | 0–100% |
| Timer | 1–300 minutes |
| Reverse on load | 1–25 |
| Unit weight | 35.2 lb |
Its mobile-base design gives it a very different clinical footprint from the compact K-1 and ankle systems.
OptiFlex Ankle CPM – 2027
The OptiFlex Ankle CPM provides two-plane ankle motion from a compact platform that can be positioned for use from a bed or chair.
| Ankle movement | Range |
|---|---|
| Dorsal / plantar flexion | 40° – 0° – 60° |
| Inversion / eversion | 40° – 0° – 20° |
| Speeds | 2 |
| Unit weight | 24.25 lb |
| Dimensions | 22 × 18.5 × 28.4 in |
The platform is designed for either the left or right ankle and uses a hand controller with patient-data-chip capability.

For an alternative motor-assisted system intended for broader active/passive rehabilitation rather than a single-joint CPM workflow, compare the Richmar APT Performer.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the three OptiFlex K-1 knee CPM versions?
The K-1 chassis is essentially the same; the principal difference is the hand controller. Classic provides the core controls, Standard adds additional treatment-management functions, and Comfort adds the most advanced protocol and documentation capabilities.
Is a patient kit included?
It depends on the model. Balego's K-1 and shoulder variants currently specify separate patient kits. Current 2027 ankle documentation identifies its neoprene patient kit as included. The 2038 elbow package should be verified against Balego's current Enovis shipment because manufacturer and distributor listings conflict.
Can the OptiFlex K-1 replacement pendants be used with the shoulder, elbow, or ankle CPM?
No. The K-1 replacement controllers are intended for compatible OptiFlex K-1 knee CPM systems. Confirm the exact controller part number before ordering.
Is a prescription required?
These Chattanooga CPM systems are prescription-use powered rehabilitation devices. FDA GUDID lists the OptiFlex K-1 as Rx rather than OTC.
What HS code should be used for a complete CPM machine?
A strong U.S. working classification is HTSUS 9019.10.2010, mechano-therapy appliances. Replacement controllers fit the parts/accessories branch at 9019.10.2090. Final import classification should follow Enovis or your customs broker.
Does Balego include shipping?
Yes. Balego offers free U.S. shipping, so compare our price with the complete delivered price rather than product price alone.
