BioMedical Life Systems L00012 Bifurcated Lead Wire | 7" Electrode Splitter
Expand a compatible electrotherapy lead-wire setup without replacing the complete lead cable. The BioMedical Life Systems L00012 Bifurcated Lead Wire is a short 7-inch (18 cm) splitter designed to connect to an existing compatible electrode lead and provide two electrode connections in place of one.
BioMedical Life Systems describes its bifurcated wire as a way to split a single pin of an existing lead wire to add more electrodes. One L00012 bifurcated wire is supplied per package.
This distinction is important: L00012 is an accessory splitter, not a complete replacement lead wire running from the electrotherapy unit to the electrodes.

Pin-style electrode connections, bifurcated options, and latex-free construction within its lead-wire line. Compatibility varies among different lead-wire systems.
What Does a Bifurcated Lead Wire Do?
“Bifurcated” simply means divided into two branches.
A normal compatible electrode lead terminates in one electrode connection. The L00012 attaches to that existing connection and branches it into two electrode connections:
Existing compatible lead wire → L00012 splitter → two electrodes
This makes L00012 fundamentally different from a complete TENS or NMES replacement lead wire.
For help identifying electrode and lead-wire connections before ordering, see our TENS and NMES Electrode Connector Guide. That guide explains why the electrode end and device end both need to be identified correctly.
L00012 Bifurcated Wire vs. Standard Replacement Lead Wire
| Feature | BMLS L00012 Bifurcated Wire | Standard Full-Length Lead Wire |
|---|---|---|
| Primary job | Splits an existing electrode connection | Connects stimulator to electrodes |
| Length | Approximately 7 in / 18 cm | Commonly 40–48 in |
| Connects directly to the stimulator? | No—used with an existing compatible lead | Yes. |
| Adds electrode connections | Yes. | Normally provides the original channel connections |
| Replaces damaged device lead | No | Yes. |
| Quantity | 1 bifurcated wire | Depends on product |
| Manufacturer SKU | L00012 | Varies |
If what you actually need is a complete portable electrotherapy replacement cable rather than a splitter, compare our 45-inch TENS/NMES Replacement Lead Wires instead. Those wires run from a compatible stimulator to standard pin-connected electrodes and are a different product category.
Why Use a Bifurcated Electrode Lead?
The L00012 is intended for electrotherapy configurations in which an additional electrode connection is needed from an existing compatible lead. Rather than substituting a completely different device cable, the short splitter extends the electrode end of the existing setup.
Allowing multiple electrodes to be connected through a lead-wire arrangement.
The number and placement of electrodes must still conform to the electrotherapy device's instructions and the prescribed treatment configuration. Adding a connector does not increase the stimulator's number of independently controlled channels.
Important: A Splitter Does Not Create Another Channel
This is one of the most useful distinctions Balego can add to the page.
A channel is an independently controlled electrical output produced by the stimulator. A bifurcated cable divides the connection downstream of an existing output; it does not add another independently adjustable channel to the machine.
For example, connecting additional electrodes through a bifurcated lead does not turn a two-channel electrotherapy unit into a four-channel unit.
Customers who need a different number of independent treatment channels should select the appropriate electrotherapy device rather than assuming a splitter changes the electronics of the stimulator.
Confirm Connector Compatibility Before Ordering
Lead-wire compatibility should never be determined from cable length alone.
We maintain several different lead-wire systems, including proprietary lead-wire sets for specific current and historical devices and a separate industry-standard lead-wire option. Its current compatibility information specifically distinguishes L00013, L00013TC, L00013MC, L00023, L00025, and other lead systems.
Before purchasing L00012, compare the existing electrode-end connector with the splitter connection. If you are unsure whether you have a pin, snap, tab, or another connection, use our TENS Electrode Guides before ordering.
Compatible Electrodes
The electrodes used downstream of the splitter must match its pin-style output connection and must also be appropriate for the electrotherapy device and treatment.
We carry reusable TENS/NMES/FES electrodes for compatible pin-style electrotherapy systems.
For a more detailed explanation of pad size, connector type, electrode condition, and lead-wire troubleshooting, see our guide to buying replacement TENS electrodes.
BMLS L00012 vs. Other Lead-Wire Options
| Need | Recommended product type | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Turn one compatible electrode connection into two. | BMLS L00012 bifurcated wire | Short splitter specifically designed for this job |
| Replace an entire standard portable TENS/NMES cable. | 45-inch replacement lead wire | Connects device directly to electrodes |
| Replace a proprietary BMLS device lead. | Correct model-specific lead | Device-end connectors can differ. |
| Connect a pin-ended lead to another electrode style. | Compatible adapter | Changes the connector style rather than branching the circuit. |
| Replace worn adhesive pads. | Reusable electrotherapy electrodes | Lead wire may still be serviceable |

Frequently Asked Questions
Is L00012 a complete replacement TENS lead wire? No. L00012 is a short bifurcated splitter used with an existing compatible lead wire. It is not the complete cable that runs from the stimulator to the electrodes.
How long is the L00012 bifurcated lead wire? Published BMLS and distributor data identify it as approximately 7 inches (18 cm) long.
How many bifurcated wires are included? One L00012 wire is supplied per package. BMLS's current catalog identifies the bifurcated wire as one wire per pack.
What does the bifurcated wire connect to? It is designed to split a compatible existing lead-wire pin into two electrode connections.
Does it give my TENS or NMES unit another channel? No. It adds electrode connection points downstream from an existing compatible output. It does not add another independently controlled channel to the stimulator.
Can I use L00012 with any TENS unit? Do not assume universal compatibility. BMLS itself uses multiple proprietary and industry-standard lead-wire formats. Match the complete connector system before ordering.
Does L00012 include electrodes? No. The product is the bifurcated lead-wire accessory only.
