VitalStim® Plus Accessories & Replacement Parts
Maintain your VitalStim Plus system with genuine replacement accessories designed for the Chattanooga® VitalStim Plus electrotherapy and sEMG biofeedback system. Choose from snap lead wires, an sEMG reference lead wire, an operator hand switch, a protective rubber sleeve, a stylus, a tabletop stand, a battery door, or a reference EMG electrode.
Each selection on this page is an individual VitalStim Plus accessory. The complete electrotherapy device is not included unless specifically identified as the system. To purchase the complete unit, visit the VitalStim Plus Electrotherapy and sEMG Biofeedback System.
VitalStim Plus is a professional four-channel electrotherapy and two-channel surface electromyography system used in clinician-directed dysphagia rehabilitation. Because its stimulation, sEMG, reference electrode, and remote-control connections are system-specific, replacement parts should be selected by manufacturer number rather than appearance alone.

VitalStim Plus Snap Lead Wires — 25-8080
The VitalStim Plus Snap Lead Wires are replacement stimulation leads made specifically for the VitalStim Plus system. They connect the unit’s output channels to compatible VitalStim treatment electrodes.
The device uses color-coded channel connections to help clinicians organize the four stimulation channels:
| Channel | Lead-wire color |
|---|---|
| Channel 1 | Blue |
| Channel 2 | Green |
| Channel 3 | Orange |
| Channel 4 | Cranberry |
Select replacement snap lead wires when the original leads become damaged, intermittent, visibly worn, or unable to maintain a dependable connection.
VitalStim Plus Reference EMG Lead Wire — 13-8083
The Reference EMG Lead Wire connects the VitalStim Plus reference electrode to the device’s dedicated REF input. It is required when using the system’s surface EMG biofeedback functions.
Clinicians use the reference wire with a reference electrode attached to the patient for precise sEMG measurements. The reference lead is separate from the four color-coded stimulation-channel leads and should not be confused with a standard electrode cable.
Reference lead wire vs. snap stimulation leads

VitalStim Plus Reference EMG Electrode — 13-8082
The VitalStim Plus Reference EMG Electrode is the patient-contact reference electrode used with the reference EMG lead wire during surface electromyography and biofeedback treatment.
The reference electrode and reference lead work together:
- The reference electrode is placed according to the clinician’s trained protocol.
- The electrode connects to the white reference EMG lead wire.
- The lead wire connects to the VitalStim Plus REF port.
- The system uses the reference connection to support accurate sEMG measurement.
This electrode is not the same as the treatment electrodes used to deliver VitalStim or VMS stimulation. Part 13-8082 specifically acts as the replacement electrode that connects to the patient and permits sEMG functionality.
VitalStim Plus Hand Switch — 13-8085
The VitalStim Plus Hand Switch, also described in the manual as the operator remote switch, connects to the remote switch jack on the device. It gives the trained clinician direct manual control over stimulation during selected VitalStim or VMS treatment workflows.
After manual mode is activated, stimulation begins while the clinician holds the remote button and stops when the button is released. The operator can also hold the switch while adjusting the selected channel intensity. The manufacturer states that the remote switch should be used only under the supervision of a physician or certified VitalStim user.
| Hand-switch action | Device response |
|---|---|
| Connect the switch | The switch icon indicates that the accessory is connected |
| Press and release | Activates manual mode and returns intensity to 0 mA |
| Press and hold | Begins stimulation |
| Release | Stops stimulation |
| Hold while adjusting channel control | Allows intensity adjustment |
VitalStim Plus Stand — 13-8088
The replacement VitalStim Plus Stand supports the device in an upright viewing position during a clinical session. It can be useful when the clinician needs to monitor the display, operate the touchscreen, or position the unit where both clinician and patient can see treatment feedback.
This part is intended specifically for use with the VitalStim Plus device.
VitalStim Plus Stylus — 13-8089
The VitalStim Plus Stylus is a direct replacement for the stylus supplied for navigating the device’s color display and treatment interface.
A dedicated stylus can help clinicians select treatment modes, enter information, adjust settings, and access patient-data or resource-library functions without relying on a finger for every screen selection. Part 13-8089 is identified by Chattanooga as the replacement stylus for the VitalStim Plus device.
VitalStim Plus Rubber Sleeve — 13-8090
The VitalStim Plus Rubber Sleeve fits around the handheld device as a replacement for the original protective sleeve. Replace it when the existing sleeve becomes damaged, loose, torn, or difficult to clean.
The rubber sleeve is shaped specifically for the VitalStim Plus housing and should not be replaced with a generic handheld-device cover.
VitalStim Plus Battery Door — 13-8075
The VitalStim Plus Battery Door is the replacement cover for the device’s battery compartment. VitalStim Plus operates from four 1.5-volt AA batteries, and the operator manual instructs users to close the battery cover before turning on the unit.
Replace the battery door if the original cover is lost, cracked, no longer closes securely, or cannot reliably protect the battery compartment. Part 13-8075 is identified as the dedicated VitalStim Plus battery-door replacement.

Compatibility and Ordering Guidance
These replacement parts are designed specifically for the VitalStim Plus Electrotherapy System. Do not assume that a standard TENS lead wire, generic snap cable, general-purpose electrode, or accessory from an older VitalStim model will be compatible.
The VitalStim Plus operator manual states that powered muscle stimulators should be used only with the leads and electrodes recommended by the manufacturer. It also specifically warns against using accessories or techniques that were not designed for the system or approved through VitalStim certification training.
Before ordering, confirm:
- The manufacturer number printed on the original component
- Whether you need a stimulation lead or the separate reference EMG lead
- Whether the electrode is a treatment electrode or an sEMG reference electrode
- That your device is the VitalStim Plus system
- Whether the selected accessory is already included with a new system
- The quantity and package configuration shown for the selected variant
For help confirming a part, contact Balego with the model number, accessory number, and a photograph of the connection when possible.
