Uni-Patch™ Model 745 2 mm Pin-to-Snap Electrotherapy Adapters

The Uni-Patch Model 745 Pin-to-Snap Adapter changes the patient end of a compatible electrotherapy lead wire from a standard 0.080-inch (about 2 mm) pin connection to a snap-style electrode connection.

Use this adapter when a compatible TENS, EMS, NMES, FES, or related stimulation device has lead wires with male 2 mm electrode pins, but the selected stimulation electrode or accessory has a compatible snap connector instead.

Each adapter receives one electrode pin and attaches to one snap connection. A standard four-electrode, dual-channel setup therefore requires four adapters. Each package contains 10 individual adapters, providing enough connectors for two complete four-electrode arrangements with two adapters remaining as spares.

How the pin-to-snap adapter works

The adapter changes only the connector at the electrode end of an existing cable.

Connection sequence

Compatible stimulator → existing lead wire → 2 mm male pin → Model 745 adapter → compatible snap electrode

Connection pointRequired format
Stimulator to lead wireMust already match the device
Lead wire to adapterApproximately 2 mm male electrode pin
Adapter to electrodeCompatible snap connection
Electrode to patientStimulation electrode appropriate for the device and intended modality

Our 45-inch TENS/NMES Replacement lead wires terminate in standard 2 mm male electrode pins. Model 745 may convert that type of patient-end connection to a qualifying snap electrode, provided the lead wire’s device-side plug is also correct for the stimulator.

What the adapter does

  • Changes a compatible pin-style patient connection to a snap connection
  • Allows continued use of an otherwise compatible pin-ended lead wire
  • Expands the electrode or accessory formats available to a clinic
  • Avoids replacing the entire cable solely because the electrode has a different connection
  • Creates a removable junction between the lead wire and snap electrode

What the adapter does not do

  • Change the device-side lead-wire plug
  • Repair a broken or intermittent lead wire
  • Convert a snap lead into a pin lead
  • Convert a pin into a flat-tab clip
  • Change TENS into NMES or another modality
  • Change pulse width, frequency, waveform, or intensity
  • Make an ECG electrode suitable for therapeutic stimulation
  • Make an unsupported conductive garment compatible
  • Guarantee that every snap size will fit
  • Eliminate the need to follow the device and electrode instructions

How many adapters are required?

One adapter is required for every snap electrode or snap connection attached to a pin-style lead.

The package contains ten individual adapters. It should not be described as ten pairs.

Compatibility checklist

Confirm all five compatibility points before ordering.

1. Lead-wire pin diameter

The adapter is specified for a 0.080-inch pin, approximately 2 mm in diameter.

Do not assume it fits:

  • 1.5 mm pins
  • 2.35 mm device plugs
  • 3.5 mm device plugs
  • 3.9 mm device plugs
  • Banana plugs
  • Proprietary protected connectors
  • EMPI-style safety plugs
  • Touch-proof DIN connectors

The 2.35 mm connector on Balego’s replacement lead wire is the device-side plug. Its electrode ends are 2 mm pins. These two measurements describe different ends of the cable and should not be interchanged.

2. Snap dimensions

“Snap” is a connector category rather than a guarantee that every snap has identical dimensions. Compare the snap electrode or accessory with the adapter and current product documentation.

The current Model 745 listings do not publish a separate snap-diameter specification, so the Balego page should not make a universal 3.5 mm or 3.9 mm claim without measuring the current product or confirming it from Cardinal Health.

3. Electrode purpose

Use only an electrode or accessory intended for the selected stimulation device and modality.

A snap may appear on:

  • TENS electrodes
  • NMES or EMS electrodes
  • Carbon rubber stimulation electrodes
  • Conductive garments
  • ECG/EKG monitoring electrodes
  • Diagnostic sensors
  • Other medical accessories

A matching connector does not establish clinical compatibility.

4. Device modality

Confirm that the snap electrode is approved or appropriately marketed for the electrical output being used, such as TENS, NMES, EMS, FES, IFC, or another modality.

5. Device-side cable connection

Model 745 does not change the plug entering the stimulator. The original lead wire must already fit the device correctly.

Our connector guide emphasizes matching the lead wire, electrode connector, and stimulation system rather than selecting a pad solely by appearance. Read TENS/NMES Electrode Connectors: Pigtail vs. Tab.

Do not use ordinary ECG snap electrodes for TENS or NMES

Many ECG/EKG monitoring electrodes also have metal snap connectors, but they are designed to acquire cardiac signals—not deliver therapeutic stimulation.

Electrode typeMain purposeSuitable simply because the snap fits?
Snap electrotherapy electrodeDelivers compatible stimulationPotentially, after full compatibility verification
Carbon rubber stimulation electrodeDelivers compatible stimulation with appropriate contact mediaPotentially
Conductive stimulation garmentDelivers compatible stimulation through a garmentOnly when approved for the device and setup
ECG monitoring electrodeRecords cardiac activityNo
Resting diagnostic ECG electrodeRecords a brief ECGNo
Defibrillation padDelivers defibrillation, cardioversion, or pacing energyNo

Browse our Electrotherapy Electrodes for stimulation pads. The products in the monitoring EKG/ECG electrode collection serve a different medical purpose and should not be converted into TENS or NMES pads merely because a connector can be attached.

Model 770 as a pin-to-clip adapter, Model 721B as a banana-to-0.080-inch-pin adapter, and the 45-inch lead wires as complete 2.35 mm-to-2 mm pin cables.

Choose Model 745 when:

  • The existing lead wire ends with a compatible 2 mm male pin.
  • The desired stimulation electrode has a compatible snap.
  • The lead wire itself is undamaged.
  • Only the patient-end connector needs conversion.
  • Replacing the complete cable is unnecessary.

Choose Model 770 when:

  • The existing cable has a 2 mm male pin.
  • The selected electrode uses a flat tab.
  • A clip-style connection is required.
  • The clinic uses products such as Uni-Tab Stimulating Electrodes.

Uni-Tab electrodes use flat tabs rather than snaps. Our Uni-Tab page states that conventional pin-ended lead wires generally require a pin-to-clip adapter—not Model 745.

Choose Model 721B when:

  • The starting cable has a banana connection.
  • The required patient connection is a 0.080-inch pin.
  • The goal is the reverse connection category from Model 745.

Replace the complete lead wire when:

  • Insulation is cracked.
  • A device-side plug is loose.
  • The wire produces intermittent output.
  • Metal is exposed.
  • The cable is kinked or stretched.
  • The device-side connector does not fit.
  • Multiple adapters would otherwise need to be chained together.

An adapter should not be used to conceal or compensate for a damaged cable.

Best useExisting pin leads with a specifically desired snap electrodeRoutine use when a pin electrode already meets requirements

Customers who do not specifically need a snap electrode may prefer a direct pin-compatible pad such as the following:

Model 745 with carbon rubber snap electrodes

Our Uni-Patch Carbon Rubber Electrodes use snap connections on the carbon electrode models. Model 745 may provide the required connector conversion when the adapter’s snap properly fits the electrode and the complete setup is permitted by the stimulation-device instructions.

Carbon rubber electrodes differ from modern pre-gelled pads:

Do not add gel to a self-adhering hydrogel electrode unless its instructions specifically permit it.

How to connect the adapter

Follow the stimulator, lead wire, adapter, and electrode instructions.

1. Turn the stimulator off

Set every channel intensity to zero and turn off the device before connecting or disconnecting an adapter.

2. Inspect the complete setup

Check:

  • Device-side lead-wire plug
  • Cable insulation
  • 2 mm male pin
  • Adapter receptacle
  • Snap connection
  • Electrode or accessory
  • Electrode gel or contact surface

Do not use components that are cracked, bent, corroded, contaminated, loose, or visibly damaged.

3. Insert the lead-wire pin

Push the compatible 2 mm pin straight into the adapter’s pin receptacle until it is secure.

Do not:

  • Force an oversized pin
  • Bend the pin sideways
  • Leave exposed metal between the connectors
  • Twist the cable excessively
  • Insert the device-side plug into the adapter

4. Attach the snap electrode

Align the adapter with the electrode’s snap and press them together until the connection is secure.

5. Apply the electrode

Prepare and position the stimulation electrode according to its instructions and the prescribed placement.

6. Begin at zero intensity

Turn on the stimulator and raise each active channel gradually. Stop if the connection is intermittent or the sensation becomes unexpectedly sharp.

7. Disconnect after treatment

Turn the unit off and return all intensity controls to zero. Hold the connector bodies—not the cables—when separating the adapter from the pin or snap.

Care and replacement

No detailed Cardinal Health cleaning procedure for MW72265 was located in the public product information reviewed. The page should therefore avoid recommending alcohol, solvents, soaking, machine disinfection, or sterilization.

Recommended care language:

  • Keep the adapter dry.
  • Disconnect it from the device before inspection or cleaning.
  • Wipe only as permitted by the current package or facility protocol.
  • Do not soak or immerse it.
  • Do not autoclave unless specifically authorized by the manufacturer.
  • Do not use it if conductive metal is exposed.
  • Store it away from excessive pulling, bending, moisture, and heat.
  • Keep adapters assigned and organized according to facility infection-control policy.
  • Replace rather than repair a loose or damaged adapter.

FAQs

What is the Uni-Patch Model 745?

It is a patient-end lead-wire adapter that converts a compatible 0.080-inch (approximately 2 mm) male pin connection to a compatible snap electrode connection. The Cardinal Health catalog number is MW72265.

How many adapters are included?

Each package contains ten individual adapters.

Is that ten adapters or ten pairs?

It is a package of ten individual adapters, not ten pairs.

How many do I need for four electrodes?

Four snap electrodes require four adapters—one for each electrode connection.

What size pin does it accept?

The published size is 0.080 inch, which equals approximately 2.03 mm and is commonly described as a 2 mm electrode pin.

Why should the page say 2 mm instead of 0.2 cm?

Both describe approximately the same size, but “2 mm electrode pin” is clearer, more precise for shoppers, and more consistent with common TENS and NMES connector terminology.

Does it connect directly to a TENS unit?

No. It connects to the electrode end of an existing compatible lead wire. The lead wire still needs the correct device-side plug.

Will it fit Balego’s 45-inch lead wires?

Those cables have 2 mm electrode pins, making them the correct general connection category for Model 745. Their 2.35 mm device-side plug must also fit the stimulator being used.

Does it work with every 2 mm pin?

It is intended for a 0.080-inch, approximately 2 mm pin, but manufacturing tolerances, protective housings, and connector construction can vary. Do not force a connection.

Does it fit every snap electrode?

No universal snap compatibility is established by the product information reviewed. Confirm the physical snap and clinical compatibility before use.

Can it connect to carbon rubber electrodes?

Potentially. Our Uni-Patch models for carbon rubber electrodes use snap connections. The adapter, electrode, lead wire, device, and contact-media setup must all be compatible.

Can it connect to a tab electrode?

No. A flat tab requires a compatible clip, such as the Model 770 Pin-to-Clip Adapter.

Can it be used with Uni-Tab electrodes?

Model 745 is not the correct connection because Uni-Tab electrodes use flat tabs rather than snaps. Use a compatible pin-to-clip adapter.

Is the adapter itself an electrode?

No. It is only a connector accessory. A compatible stimulation electrode or garment must be purchased separately.

Does it include a lead wire?

No. The package contains adapters only.

Can it repair a broken TENS cable?

No. Replace a lead wire that is damaged, loose, intermittent, or has an exposed conductor.

Can it convert a snap lead to a pin electrode?

No. Model 745 converts a male pin-ended lead to a snap connection. It does not perform the reverse conversion.

Does the adapter change TENS intensity?

It does not intentionally change device settings or output parameters. A loose or worn connection can, however, produce intermittent or uncomfortable stimulation and should be replaced.

Can it be used with NMES or EMS?

It may be used in a compatible NMES or EMS setup when the lead wire, snap electrode, adapter, device, and treatment instructions all match. Connector fit alone is not enough.

Can it be used with an ECG snap electrode?

No. Ordinary ECG monitoring electrodes are designed to record signals, not deliver TENS or NMES stimulation.

Is it reusable?

Yes.

Is it sterile?

No. AccessGUDID identifies the device as nonsterile.
