Uni-Patch Model 770 Pin-to-Clip Electrode Adapters — 0.080", 10/Bag

The Uni-Patch Model 770 Pin-to-Clip Adapter converts a standard 0.080-inch electrotherapy lead-wire pin into an alligator-style clip for compatible flat-tab stimulating electrodes.

It is designed primarily for use with products such as Uni-Patch Uni-Tab Stimulating Electrodes, which use a thin conductive tab instead of the molded pigtail socket or snap connector found on many reusable TENS and NMES pads.

Insert the lead wire’s standard pin into the adapter, then attach the metal clip to the electrode’s flat tab. The clip teeth help grip the tab securely so that stimulation can pass from the device, through the lead wire and adapter, into the compatible electrode. Current product descriptions identify this connector specifically as a standard 0.080-inch pin-to-alligator-clip adapter for Uni-Tab electrodes.

Each package contains 10 individual red adapters.

The adapter is listed within our lead-wire and electrode-accessory inventory and is intended to bridge the physical connection between a standard pin lead and a tab-style electrode.

The adapter changes the electrode-end connector format.

The product is useful when a clinic has an electrotherapy lead wire ending in standard pins but wants to use flat-tab electrodes such as the Uni-Tab 7020, 7022, or 7024.

Model 770 does not:

• Convert the device-side plug
• Convert a pin into a snap
• Convert a banana plug into a pin
• Change a TENS unit into an NMES or FES device
• Change waveform, frequency, pulse width, intensity, or polarity
• Make an unapproved electrode appropriate for a device
• Replace a damaged lead wire
• Correct a dry or poorly adhering electrode
• Connect directly to a pigtail electrode socket
• Turn a diagnostic ECG clip into a stimulation lead
• Permit connection directly to skin
• Provide a connection for needles or dry-needling electrodes

Each electrode requires its own connection. Therefore:

A bag of 10 can support five two-electrode connections, two complete four-electrode setups with two spares, or another configuration using up to 10 tab electrodes.

Uni-Tab Stimulating Electrodes are thin, self-adhering pads with flat-tab connections. We currently offer three models:

Uni-Tab electrodes are intended for compatible TENS, NMES, and FES systems but cannot connect directly to a conventional male pin. Model 770 creates the required clip connection when the rest of the electrotherapy system is compatible.

1. Check the electrode-end lead pin

The adapter requires a standard 0.080-inch pin, approximately 2 mm in diameter.

Our 45-inch TENS/NMES replacement lead wires terminate in standard 2 mm electrode pins. They will provide the appropriate electrode-side connection for Model 770, but the lead wire’s 2.35 mm device-side plug must also fit the stimulator.

2. Check the electrode

The electrode must have a compatible flat conductive tab that can be gripped securely by the adapter clip.

Do not assume compatibility with:

• Pigtail sockets
• Snap electrodes
• Diagnostic ECG tabs
• Proprietary adhesive pads
• Wireless TENS pads
• Magnetic connectors
• EMPI safety connectors
• Needle electrodes
• Conductive garments

3. Check the device-side lead connection

The adapter is installed at the electrode end of a lead wire. It does not change the plug that connects the lead to the stimulator.

A lead may have the correct 2 mm electrode pin but still have the wrong plug for the device.

4. Check the modality

Confirm that the device, electrode, and lead-wire system are appropriate for the selected modality, such as TENS, NMES, EMS, FES, or another device-approved stimulation mode.

5. Check how many adapters are required

Count one adapter for each tab electrode used simultaneously.

A compatible setup may follow this sequence:

Stimulator → compatible device-side lead plug → lead wire → 0.080-inch pin → Model 770 adapter → alligator clip → Uni-Tab electrode

Every part of that chain must be physically and electrically compatible.

Always turn off the stimulation device and reduce all channels to zero before making or changing connections.

1. Inspect the equipment

Do not use the adapter if:

• The metal is bent or corroded.
• The clip will not open or close correctly.
• The pin receptacle is loose.
• The insulation or red housing is cracked.
• The clip's teeth are damaged.
• Output cuts in and out when the connector is moved.

Also inspect the lead wire and electrode.

2. Insert the electrode pin

Push the standard 0.080-inch male lead-wire pin fully into the adapter’s receiving end.

The connection should be secure without forcing, bending, or twisting the pin.

3. Open the clip

Compress the adapter mechanism to open the alligator-style jaws.

4. Attach the electrode tab

Position the clip on the compatible conductive tab. The jaws should grip the tab securely without contacting the patient’s skin.

Do not attach the clip to:

• The adhesive gel area
• The patient’s skin
• Jewelry
• A lead wire
• A damaged or torn portion of the electrode
• Another clip

5. Apply the electrode

Place the electrode on clean, dry, intact skin according to the device instructions and treatment plan.

Make sure the clip and lead wire do not pull the electrode from the skin.

6. Begin at zero intensity

Turn the device on and increase output gradually.

Stop and inspect the setup if stimulation is

• Intermittent
• Sharp
• Burning
• Concentrated at one edge
• Absent from one electrode
• Significantly different from the expected sensation

7. Disconnect safely

Return all channels to zero and turn off the device.

Release the clip from the electrode tab before removing or storing the equipment. Do not pull the lead wire or adapter away by force.

Which Uni-Patch adapter do you need?

The Model 745 has a 0.080-inch pin-to-snap adapter, and the Model 721B has a banana-plug-to-0.080-inch-pin adapter. Both are sold in bags of 10. (Balego)

• Your lead wire ends in a standard 0.080-inch pin.
• Your electrode has a flat conductive tab.
• You are using compatible Uni-Tab electrodes.
• You need a reusable clip connection.
• You want to retain an existing compatible pin-style lead-wire system.

• Your lead wire ends in a standard pin.
• Your electrode has a metal snap.
• A secure snap connection is required.
• The device and electrode instructions permit the combination.

• The starting connector is a compatible banana plug.
• The electrode requires a conventional pin connection.
• You are adapting a clinical stimulation lead system rather than attaching to a tab.

• The electrode already has a pigtail socket.
• The lead wire’s 2 mm pin fits directly.
• Reducing the number of connection points is preferable.

A direct pigtail pad is generally simpler when the user does not specifically need tab electrodes. The adapter-and-tab combination is most useful for clinics that prefer Uni-Tab’s thin profile, bulk packaging, sizes, or quick clip connection.

After use:

1. Turn off the device.
2. Release the clip from the electrode tab.
3. Disconnect the adapter by holding its housing rather than pulling the lead wire.
4. Inspect the clip and pin receptacle.
5. Remove dry gel or debris according to the product and facility instructions.
6. Allow the adapter to dry completely before storage.
7. Store loosely with the lead wires.
8. Keep away from moisture, corrosive cleaners, extreme heat, and sharp objects.

Do not:

• Immerse the adapter unless the manufacturer’s instructions expressly permit it.
• Use it with damaged insulation.
• Bend the pin to make it fit.
• Force an oversized pin into the adapter.
• Clip it directly to skin.
• Permit the metal clip to contact another adapter during active stimulation.
• Use it for ECG acquisition unless the specific system expressly permits it.
• Use it to connect electrical stimulation to needles.
