Uni-Patch Model 721B Banana Plug-to-2 mm Pin Adapters | 10/Bag

The Uni-Patch Model 721B Banana Plug-to-Pin Adapter changes the patient-end connection of a compatible electrotherapy lead from a banana plug to a standard 0.080-inch, or about 2 mm, male electrode pin.

The adapter accepts a compatible banana plug and provides a smaller male pin that fits into the female pin socket or pigtail connector found on many reusable TENS, NMES, EMS, FES, and related electrotherapy electrodes.

This accessory is useful when an older clinical stimulator or lead-wire system is still working but has banana plugs instead of the electrode pins used by many current self-adhering pads. Each bag contains 10 individual black adapters.

The 0.080-inch measurement converts mathematically to approximately 2.03 mm. The clearest customer-facing description is "2 mm pin," while "0.080 inch" should remain in the specifications for institutional buyers who search by the manufacturer's terminology.

The adapter converts the connector format at one lead-wire endpoint.

The adapter does not plug directly into every stimulator. It normally connects to the banana-plug endpoint of an existing lead wire.

1. Confirm the starting connector

The existing lead wire must have a banana plug that physically and electrically fits the Model 721B receptacle.

“Banana plug” is a connector category. Plug diameter, insulation, protective housing, and construction can differ among systems. Do not force a plug that does not insert easily and securely.

2. Confirm the electrode connection

The selected electrode must accept a standard 0.080-inch, approximately 2 mm male pin.

Common compatible connection descriptions include:

• 2 mm pin socket
• 0.080-inch socket
• Pigtail socket
• Soft-molded pin connector
• Female electrode pin connection

The adapter is not intended for electrodes with only the following:

• A male pin
• A snap stud
• A flat tab
• An alligator clip
• A proprietary safety connector
• A magnetic connection
• A wireless connection

3. Confirm the electrode’s medical purpose

A physically fitting electrode must also be intended for the treatment being performed.

A connector adapter cannot change a sensing electrode into a current-delivering stimulation electrode.

4. Confirm the device-side connection

Model 721B only changes the endpoint after the banana plug. It does not alter the connector entering the stimulator.

When the device-side cable is wrong, loose, damaged, or missing, replace the complete lead wire rather than adding adapters.

Model 721B vs. other Balego electrotherapy adapters

• The existing lead wire terminates in a compatible banana plug.
• The desired electrode accepts a 2 mm male pin.
• The cable itself remains in safe working condition.
• Only the patient-end connector format needs to change.
• A legacy clinical stimulation setup is being maintained.

• Cable insulation is cracked.
• Conductive wire is exposed.
• The device-side plug is incorrect.
• Output is intermittent.
• The cable has been stretched or sharply kinked.
• The banana plug is loose or corroded.
• Several adapters would otherwise need to be chained together.

Adapters should not be connected in a long series to compensate for fundamentally incompatible equipment.

A direct replacement cable is generally simpler when the correct device-side plug is available. Model 721B is most useful when the existing banana-ended lead is required or cannot conveniently be replaced.

Our 45-inch TENS/NMES lead wires use a 2.35 mm device plug and two 2 mm electrode pins. They are therefore an alternative only when the 2.35 mm device-side plug matches the stimulator.

Model 721B is intended to provide a pin that inserts into a compatible female electrode socket.

Follow the stimulator, lead wire, adapter, and electrode instructions.

1. Turn off the stimulation device

Set all channel intensities to zero and turn off the unit before connecting, disconnecting, or repositioning any component.

2. Inspect every component

Check:

• Device-side plug
• Lead-wire insulation
• Banana-plug endpoint
• Adapter receptacle
• Projecting 2 mm pin
• Electrode socket
• Electrode gel and backing

Do not use a connector that is loose, cracked, bent, corroded, contaminated, or visibly damaged.

3. Connect the banana plug

Insert the compatible banana plug straight into the adapter receptacle until the connection is secure.

Do not:

• Force an oversized connector
• Twist the plug aggressively
• Leave exposed conductive metal
• Modify the connector with tools
• Add tape as a substitute for proper fit

4. Connect the electrode

Insert the adapter’s 0.080-inch male pin into the electrode’s compatible female socket or pigtail connector.

The pin should fit securely without excessive force.

5. Apply the electrode

Prepare the skin and apply the stimulation pad according to the device, electrode, and treatment instructions.

6. Begin at zero intensity

Turn on the device and increase intensity gradually. Stop immediately if the output becomes intermittent, unexpectedly sharp, or concentrated.

7. Disconnect after treatment

Turn off the device and return all channel controls to zero. Separate connectors by holding their insulated bodies rather than pulling on the wire.

I did not locate a current public Cardinal Health cleaning procedure specifically for MW72160. The product page should therefore avoid giving unverified instructions involving alcohol, disinfectant, immersion, autoclaving, or chemical sterilization.

Recommended care language:

• Keep the adapter clean and dry.
• Disconnect it before inspection.
• Do not soak or immerse it.
• Do not bend the projecting pin.
• Do not pull on connected cables.
• Store it where the pin will not be crushed.
• Follow the current package and facility infection-control instructions.
• Replace the adapter rather than attempting a repair.
• Do not use an adapter with exposed metal beyond its normal connector surfaces.
• Do not continue using a loose or intermittent connection.
