Looking for the Richmar Quattro 2.5 manual? Start with the DQ8450 instructions below, then use this guide to check channel selection, saved programs, unexpected stimulation, and error messages.
Our Quattro 2.5 product page covers the equipment and current ordering options. This page is for understanding the unit you already have. It is not an individualized treatment plan or a substitute for the complete instructions and professional training.

Document checked: Richmar Rev. V2, copyright 2019; 55 PDF pages. This is a manufacturer-authored manual hosted by a distributor, not a manual written by us. Match it to the model label and instructions supplied with your equipment.
Safety first: this is prescription equipment for use under continued professional supervision. The reviewed manual prohibits use with implanted pacemakers, defibrillators, or other implanted metallic or electronic devices and for undiagnosed pain. Do not apply stimulation over the neck, across the chest or head, or on unsuitable skin. Do not leave a patient unattended or use it during sleep. These are selected warnings, not the complete screening requirements; read the manual's safety section before treatment.
Four outputs, but two programming groups
The Quattro 2.5 DQ8450 groups Channels 1–2 and Channels 3–4 separately. Each group has its own program and timer; each channel has its own intensity adjustment. Selecting a group on the display is therefore not the same action as changing a channel's output.
Before touching a control, identify the intended channel, its group, and the field currently displayed. Do not assume that the group left visible by the previous operator is the one you intend to change.
Scroll the comparison table horizontally on a narrow screen.
| Control or display | Documented function | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Channel knobs 1–4 | Press to select the associated group; turn to adjust that channel's intensity. | Which channel is intended, and which group is selected? |
| Central dial | Turn to edit the selected parameter; press for the individual-channel pause function. | Do not mistake a parameter adjustment for an intensity adjustment. |
| Waveform / CC-CV | Selects the waveform and output-regulation option. | CC uses current units; CV uses voltage units. The same number is not an equivalent setting. |
| Program / Save and Step | Selects or stores programs and accesses professional mode. | Read the actual stored fields, including both steps when applicable. |
| STIM and timer fields | Identify output activity and timing information for the selected treatment. | A planned rest interval is different from an unexpected interruption. |
Control details appear on printed pages 10–12 and 18–20 of the linked manual. The comparison above is an identification aid, not a complete operating sequence.
Pause and stop do not automatically affect every channel.
Pause: select the intended channel with its knob, then press the central dial. The manual specifies pausing each channel individually.
Stop: the button stops the selected, flashing channel group. Select and stop the other active group separately when it also needs to end. One Stop Press is not an all-four-channel shutdown.
Confirm every intended output has stopped. Before removing electrodes or changing connections, turn the device off; disconnect power before cleaning. Do not treat silencing a sound as confirmation that all output has ended.
A setup check before output starts
Use the waveform-specific setup instructions in the Quattro manual alongside the approved treatment plan. The following checkpoints help catch a mismatch before treatment begins; they do not select the treatment, placement, or intensity.
1. Confirm the patient, equipment, and accessories.
Check the prescribed program, skin, cables, and electrode condition. Connect only the specified accessory arrangement with the unit off. Resolve damaged insulation, an uncertain connector, or an unsuitable electrode before proceeding.
2. Match the electrode arrangement to the waveform
IF-2P and IF-4P do not use the same channel arrangement. Follow the manual's diagram for the selected waveform, not a placement copied from another machine. Check electrode contact and approved size; the reviewed instructions prohibit self-adhesive electrodes smaller than 25 cm².
3. Review the selected group and every relevant field.
After startup, verify the waveform, P/S program, output regime, timing, and applicable parameters before increasing intensity. A familiar program number is not enough to identify the stored configuration. For a prescribed muscle program, our NMES settings-compatibility guide helps organize the required information.
4. Begin and monitor only the intended outputs.
On this unit, turning the individual channel-intensity knobs increases output and begins treatment. Keep checking the patient and the display. The manual warns against raising intensity when STIM is not blinking: some programs intentionally pause and then restart.
If the observed behavior does not match the plan, stop and clarify it rather than increasing intensity until a sensation appears. A display label or quiet period alone cannot tell you why the expected response is absent.
P programs, S programs, and saved settings
P1–P10 identify the normal program slots. Professional-mode entries use an S prefix and provide two treatment steps. In the reviewed instructions, holding Step until the confirmation beep changes modes; holding Save until its beep stores the configured settings. Use those functions only when authorized to create or modify the program.
Because settings can be stored, an old instruction such as “use P1” may be incomplete. Record the waveform and actual parameters with the program identifier. When a professional program is used, check both steps before output starts, not only the screen visible first.
The S in EMS S means synchronous; the S prefix in a professional program is a different label. Similar lettering does not describe the same feature. Frequency, ramp, cycle, and vector fields likewise depend on the selected waveform. Our IFC carrier, Beat and Sweep Guide, explains those frequency distinctions without requiring you to infer them from a button's shared labels.
Do not use a factory reset as a general response to unexpected stimulation. A reset can replace saved parameters. Document the existing configuration and obtain the appropriate technical or clinical direction first.
No output, unexpected beeping, and error codes
Describe both the sound and the screen. “It beeps” is less useful than identifying the error, selected group, intensity display, and point in the session when the event occurred. The manufacturer troubleshooting section on printed pages 46–47 identifies the codes below.
Scroll to see the next-action column.
| What appears | What to distinguish | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| The display stays blank. | Power or adapter connection needs checking. | Inspect accessible connections with the unit off. Do not open the enclosure or substitute an unverified adapter. |
| Beep after the session ends. | The manual describes an approximately 20-second completion alert. | Acknowledge the sound as instructed; check whether another group is still active before disconnecting anything. |
| Intensity flashes and returns to zero. | This can be the load-detection response to inadequate electrode connection. | Stop and check the patient, contact and connect with power off. Do not bypass the response by changing modes or raising output. |
| E1 or E2 | Hardware-related fault. | Take the unit out of treatment. Follow the supplied restart guidance; a recurring fault needs authorized support. |
| E3 | Device-temperature limit detected. | Stop use and allow cooling as instructed. A repeated warning needs technical assessment, not repeated treatment attempts. |
| E4 | Working-current limit detected. | Stop treatment and obtain support before returning an unexplained or recurring fault to patient use. |
| E5 | Memory-related fault. | Follow the manual's restart guidance. Escalate recurrence and verify the intended program before reuse. |
| Burning, sharp pain, or skin reaction | Patient safety takes priority, even without a code. | Stop stimulation, inspect the site, and seek clinical review. Do not assume a stronger setting or new program is the solution. |
The codes identify a detected condition, not a confirmed failed part. Clearing a message does not establish that its cause is resolved. Similarly, load detection has mode-dependent operating thresholds; the absence of an alarm is not proof of satisfactory electrode contact.
Replacing electrodes, leads, or cable connectors
Keep the device-side cable assembly separate from the electrode-side connection when ordering. Richmar lists WQ6005PLUG-2 leads and DQ8450CPLUG cable connectors for Quattro 2.5. The reviewed 2019 manual uses DQ8432CPLUG for its connector reference. Confirm the appropriate part for your equipment rather than assuming the two references are interchangeable.
Our electrode-connector guide helps identify connection types. It does not certify a cable for every machine that accepts a similar pin. Send the console label, cable reference, and photographs of both ends to our product-support team before ordering an uncertain replacement.
For pads, compare the Richmar InTENSity 2-inch square electrode listing and our electrotherapy electrode assortment against the exact approved accessory reference, conductive contact area, and instructions. A nominal size or shared brand is not enough to verify a replacement. Retain the original approved pad specification when requesting help.
Use the correct cleaning instructions for each component.
The manual specifies mild-soap wiping for the lead wires and warns that rubbing alcohol damages their insulation. Its rubber-electrode instructions are different. Do not extend a cleaning permission for rubber electrodes to cables, adhesive pads, or the console.
Switch off and disconnect power before cleaning, avoid immersion, and do not return wet or damaged equipment to use. Self-adhesive electrodes are single-patient supplies. Follow the current device and accessory instructions together with the facility's reprocessing policy; a brief wipe is not automatically a validated between-patient process.
Our long-term-care rehabilitation guide discusses shared equipment, assigned supplies, and team handoffs. Keep the model-specific care instructions with the equipment rather than replacing them with one universal disinfectant instruction.
Is this the correct manual for your machine?
A shared brand, channel count, or clinical use does not make operating instructions transferable. Use the product label first.
| Exact product | Important distinction | Correct the next resource. |
|---|---|---|
| Quattro 2.5 DQ8450 | Tabletop four-channel electrotherapy; no ultrasound treatment head. | Use the Quattro 2.5 manual linked above and match its edition to the unit. |
| ComboCare DQ7844 | A separate stimulation-and-ultrasound system. | Confirm its supplied manual; Quattro's menu and channel instructions are not its operating procedure. |
| Twin Stim Plus DS5402 | A different portable four-channel stimulator. | Use our Twin Stim Plus manual guide for that model. |
For other models, browse our device-manual library. For a new equipment requirement, our clinical electrotherapy collection provides the purchasing route; do not treat this manual summary as a recommendation to replace a functioning unit.
What to record before contacting support
Include: DQ8450 model and serial information, the manual edition, selected channel group, waveform, program identifier, displayed units, exact error, and when it appeared. State whether the issue followed a pad, cable, program, or cleaning change.
A photograph of the equipment label and display can help with identification. Keep patient names, photographs, and treatment records out of an ordinary product inquiry. Our support contact page is the route for product and order questions; clinical changes belong with the treating professional.
Check the Quattro 2.5 product listing for current equipment details, and verify the approved replacement in our electrode collection before buying supplies. The goal is to resolve the identified requirement, not to replace parts solely because a symptom has several possible causes.
