IMAK® Compression Arthritis Wrist Sleeve | Reversible Mild Support

The IMAK® Compression Arthritis Wrist Sleeve by Brownmed is a soft, flexible wrist-and-thumb sleeve designed for people who want mild compression and warmth without a rigid splint or bulky adjustable brace.

The sleeve provides support for wrist and thumb joint discomfort and arthritis-related joint swelling. Its breathable cotton construction is designed for extended wear, while the reversible design allows the same sleeve to be turned inside out for either the right or left hand.

This is a light-compression support, not an immobilizing wrist brace. It is best considered when comfortable, flexible coverage is preferred and normal hand movement needs to remain available.

What Makes This Wrist Sleeve Different?

The Arthritis Wrist Sleeve occupies the space between a plain fabric wrist covering and a more structured orthosis.

It provides close-fitting compression and warmth while preserving wrist, thumb, and finger movement. There are no adjustable straps to tighten and no rigid stay intended to hold the wrist in a fixed position.

That makes product selection important: a buyer who needs gentle coverage may prefer this sleeve, while someone who requires targeted thumb stabilization or prescribed wrist immobilization may need a different type of support.

The IMAK Arthritis Thumb Stabilizer adds flexible structural support on each side of the thumb. The IMAK Arthritis Gloves extend compression across the fingers and hand. The IMAK RSI Computer Glove instead uses an ergoBeads cushion beneath the palm and wrist for desk-based activity.

Choose the Wrist Sleeve When

The wrist sleeve is the most straightforward IMAK option when the priority is flexible mild compression around the wrist and thumb region without covering the fingers or adding dedicated support splints.

Choose the Thumb Stabilizer When

Choose the IMAK Arthritis Thumb Stabilizer when discomfort or support needs are concentrated more specifically around the thumb and flexible reinforcement beside the thumb is desirable. It contains two flexible supports that the wrist sleeve does not.

Choose Arthritis Gloves When

Choose the IMAK Compression Arthritis Gloves when mild compression across the fingers, hand, and lower wrist is more useful than wrist-focused coverage alone. The gloves have open fingertips and no rigid splint.

Choose the Computer Glove When

The IMAK RSI Computer Glove is a different type of support. Its defining feature is a conforming ergoBeads pad beneath the heel of the hand rather than general wrist compression, making it more specifically oriented toward keyboard, mouse, and desk-surface contact.

IMAK Arthritis Wrist Sleeve Size Chart

Users measure the width of the hand across the knuckles. Its dedicated wrist-sleeve sizing sheet lists the following sizes:

SizeHand width at knucklesBrownmed item number
SmallUp to 3⅛ inA20130
MediumUp to 3½ inA20131
LargeUp to 4 inA20132

Measure across the widest part of the knuckles rather than around the wrist. Select according to the manufacturer's chart rather than deliberately sizing down to create firmer compression.

Because swelling and hand dimensions can change, the sleeve should feel close-fitting without producing increasing numbness, discoloration, marked pressure, or other unwanted symptoms.

How to Put On the Reversible Wrist Sleeve

  1. Confirm that the selected size matches your hand width.
  2. Remove jewelry that could catch on the fabric.
  3. Turn the sleeve to the orientation needed for the right or left hand.
  4. Slide the hand through the sleeve gently rather than pulling aggressively on one edge.
  5. Position the sleeve smoothly around the wrist and thumb opening.
  6. Make sure the fabric lies flat without bunching or rolling.
  7. Move the wrist, thumb, and fingers to confirm that the sleeve is not interfering with normal intended activity.

The reversible design means a separate left- and right-hand product is not required; the sleeve turns inside out to fit either hand.

What Does “Mild Compression” Mean Here?

This product is providing mild compression. It does not publish a graduated pressure rating in millimeters of mercury for the arthritis wrist sleeve.

For that reason, the product should not be described as interchangeable with the following:

  • prescribed medical compression garments;
  • rigid wrist splints;
  • immobilization braces; or
  • adjustable supports where a clinician has specified a particular wrist position.

The defining benefits are flexible compression, warmth, reversibility, and breathable coverage.

Care Instructions

Brownmed's product sheet gives simple care directions:

Hand wash cold and air dry.

Avoid care methods that could unnecessarily stretch or damage the elastic fabric, and replace the sleeve if it no longer maintains an appropriate fit.

FAQs

Does the IMAK Arthritis Wrist Sleeve fit either hand?

Yes. The sleeve is designed to be turned inside out for use on the opposite hand, making it reversible for either right or left-hand use.

Is the sleeve a rigid wrist brace?

No. Brownmed markets it as a mild-compression wrist sleeve rather than an immobilizing splint. If maintaining the wrist in a prescribed position is the treatment objective, use the brace or orthosis recommended by the treating clinician.

Does the sleeve support the thumb?

The sleeve covers the wrist-and-thumb region, but it does not contain the dedicated flexible thumb supports found in the IMAK Arthritis Thumb Stabilizer.

Is the sleeve the same as IMAK Arthritis Gloves?

No. The IMAK Arthritis Gloves extend mild compression over the fingers and hand as well as the lower wrist. The wrist sleeve leaves the fingers free and concentrates its coverage more proximally.

Is the compression adjustable?

No adjustable strap or compression control is provided. Fit is determined primarily by choosing the correct small, medium, or large size.

How do I choose a size?

Measure the width of the hand across the knuckles. Brownmed lists small up to 3⅛ inches, medium up to 3½ inches, and large up to 4 inches.

Can I wash the wrist sleeve?

Yes. Users are to hand wash the sleeve in cold water and air dry it.

Where can I compare other mild-compression supports?
