Richmar Twin Stim Plus 3rd Edition DS5402
Four-channel TENS, EMS/NMES, IFC, and Russian stimulation in one portable kit
The Twin Stim Plus DS5402 brings four electrotherapy modalities and up to eight electrodes into a handheld system. It is an option for clinician-directed treatment plans that need more electrode connections than a two-channel device, with individual intensity adjustment and a choice of AA battery or AC power.
Complete kit—free standard U.S. shipping. Quantity 1 purchases one DS5402 kit.
What comes in the DS5402 kit?
| Included item | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Twin Stim Plus 3rd Edition stimulator | 1 |
| Reusable self-adhering electrodes, approximately 2 inches square (50 × 50 mm) | 8 pads, supplied as two packs of four |
| Lead-wire sets | 4, one for each channel |
| AA batteries | 4 |
| AC adapter | 1 |
| Carrying case | 1 |

The included leads and electrodes accommodate all four outputs; additional starter pads are not needed simply to connect all four channels. Electrode placement and the number of active channels must follow the prescribed plan. One-year warranty, subject to its terms.
Prescription required. This device is sold by or on the order of a physician or licensed practitioner and is intended for continued professional supervision. Before ordering, contact our team and identify Twin Stim Plus DS5402 to obtain prescription-submission instructions. Include your order number if you have already purchased. Keep medical documents out of the general contact form; use the delivery method our team confirms. Our prescription-submission policy explains the process and how to confirm the next step.
Four channels: what is independent, and what is shared?
Each channel has its own intensity control, but the device does not offer four independently selected therapies. The main Mode and Set controls select the active modality and its program settings.
| Control or connection | How the Twin Stim Plus operates |
|---|---|
| Output intensity | Adjusted separately for CH1, CH2, CH3, and CH4 |
| Electrode connections | One complete pair per channel; up to eight pads in total |
| Left treatment timer | Controls CH1 and CH2 |
| Right treatment timer | Controls CH₃ and CH₄ |
| Timer range | 1-60 minutes or continuous operation for each channel group |
For interferential treatment, the manual describes paired-channel output: CH1 with CH2 and CH3 with CH4. Each prescribed four-electrode field uses two channels. This is different from a separate two-electrode premodulated IF mode.
Choose this format when the approved plan calls for additional electrode pairs, not on the assumption that every channel can run an unrelated program. Continuous timing also does not mean unlimited treatment; use the duration prescribed by your clinician.
Adjustable modes for a defined treatment plan
The device provides five TENS modes, three EMS modes, three IF modes, and three Russian modes. These are operating modes, not 14 diagnosis-specific treatment prescriptions. Your clinician selects the appropriate modality, settings, and placement.
| Specification to check | DS5402 capability |
|---|---|
| TENS/EMS pulse rate | 2-150 Hz in applicable programs; TENS burst timing is a separate setting |
| TENS/EMS pulse width | 50-300 µs in applicable programs |
| EMS ramp | 1-8 seconds |
| EMS work/rest adjustment | ON: 2-90 seconds; OFF: 0-90 seconds, subject to the selected mode and ramp requirements |
| Interferential output | 4,000-4,150 Hz carriers; 1-150 Hz difference frequency depending on the program |
| Russian output | 2,500 Hz carrier with 20-80 Hz burst frequency |
| Treatment-use memory | Up to 60 operation records and 999 accumulated hours |
Treatment-use records help document operation; they do not confirm correct placement, intensity, or clinical results. Match the required settings before purchasing rather than choosing by the number of modes alone.
Our Twin Stim Plus DS5402 manual and setup guide contain the programming steps, channel diagrams, safety information, and troubleshooting. For the broader distinction between sensory and muscle stimulation, read our TENS versus NMES guide.
Replaceable AA power or the included AC adapter
The DS5402 specifies four 1.5 V AA batteries or operation with its specified 9 V DC, 800 mA adapter. The adapter voltage is not a battery specification: this device does not take a rectangular 9 V battery.
It has no built-in rechargeable-battery system. The supplied adapter powers the stimulator; do not use the device to charge AA batteries. Follow the supplied instructions for permitted battery types and use the approved adapter rather than substituting one solely because its plug fits.
Compare the device format you need.
| Purchasing priority | Device to review | Main distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Four handheld channels, replaceable batteries, and all four listed modalities | Twin Stim Plus DS5402 | Up to eight electrodes, individual intensity controls, and two grouped timers |
| A rechargeable handheld device with TENS, NMES, IF, and Russian stimulation | InTENSity Select Combo II | Two-channel format with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and guided programs |
| A clinical system with both premodulated and traditional interferential modes | Richmar Quattro 2.5 | Four-channel tabletop format, IF-2P and IF-4P options, presets, and custom protocols |
Have your clinician approve a change in device. More channels do not by themselves establish equivalent waveforms, settings, or treatment performance.
Replacing an older Twin Stim Plus? The manufacturer's 2nd edition is DS5002, a TENS/EMS model. This listing is DS5402, the 3rd Edition, which also includes interferential and Russian stimulation. Match the model number rather than relying on the Twin Stim name alone.
Replacement electrodes without connector guesswork
Keep replacements consistent with the prescribed size and the device's pin-style leads. The supplied pads are approximately 2 inches square; the manual describes a 0.08-inch, approximately 2 mm, electrode socket.
Our InTENSity 2-inch-square electrode pack contains 40 pads in ten four-pad pouches. That represents five complete eight-pad replacement sets when all four channels are used, not five guaranteed treatment sessions. Reuse depends on pad condition and the instructions, and used pads should remain assigned to one person.
The supplied self-adhering pads already incorporate their conductive gel. Additional gel is not a routine accessory requirement. For connection, care, and replacement guidance, use our DS5402 operating guide.
Before the first treatment
Have the treating professional confirm device suitability, placement, and settings, and read the supplied instructions in full. Do not use with a demand-type cardiac pacemaker or implanted defibrillator. Do not apply stimulation through the head, over the front of the neck, or across the chest, and do not use it in a bath or shower. These reminders do not replace the complete contraindications and warnings.
Confirm DS5402 on your prescription or approved equipment list, review the current kit offer, and follow our prescription instructions before use.

FAQs
Is the Twin Stim Plus a TENS unit or an EMS unit?
It is a combination device providing TENS, EMS/NMES, interferential, and Russian stimulation.
Is it a prescription device?
Yes. It is used on the order of a physician or licensed practitioner.
Are all four channels independent?
The four outputs are electrically isolated, and each has separate intensity controls. The device uses one centrally selected mode and parameter set, while CH1–CH2 and CH3–CH4 have separate treatment timers.
How many electrodes can be connected?
Each channel accepts one electrode pair. Four active channels therefore use eight electrodes.
Can it provide two IFC treatments simultaneously?
The IF program pairs CH1 with CH2 and CH3 with CH4. This can support two separate four-electrode interferential fields when prescribed, correctly placed, and professionally supervised.
Does it provide two-pole premodulated interferential stimulation?
The DS5402 manual describes paired-channel interferential output, not a separate two-electrode premodulated mode. The Quattro 2.5 offers distinct IF-2P and IF-4P choices.
How many timers does it have?
It has two timers. The left timer controls CH1 and CH2, and the right timer controls CH3 and CH4. Each timer can be set for 1 to 60 minutes or for continuous operation.
Does it store treatment-use information?
Yes. The compliance meter stores 60 operation records and up to 999 accumulated treatment hours.
Is it rechargeable?
No. It operates on four replaceable AA batteries or an AC adapter.
Can rechargeable AA batteries be used?
Use only battery types permitted by the current device instructions. Do not attempt to recharge batteries through the DS5402.
What electrodes come with it?
The package includes eight reusable 50 × 50 mm self-adhering electrodes.
What replacement pads should I order?
The closest standard size is a 2-inch-square electrode with a compatible pin-style connection. Compare Balego electrodes and InTENSity 2" square electrodes.
Does it need conductive gel?
No, the included pre-gelled adhesive electrodes do not require additional gel. Added gel may reduce adhesion or contaminate their hydrogel.
Why does one channel feel weaker?
Possible causes include different electrode placement, varying skin resistance, a worn electrode, incomplete contact, a damaged lead, or a different channel-intensity setting. The manual recommends replacing dried or contaminated electrodes and worn lead wires.
Why does the output feel intermittent?
Burst, modulation, synchronous, alternate, and work-rest programs intentionally vary output. Unexpected interruption may instead indicate a loose connection, worn lead wire, lifted electrode, or low battery.
Can it be used at home?
It may be assigned for home use when prescribed and when the patient has been trained in mode selection, settings, electrode placement, contraindications, skin inspection, and safe operation.
What is the warranty?
One-year warranty.
