IMAK® Ergo Back Cushion | Lumbar Support for Office, Home & Car

The IMAK® Ergo Back Cushion by Brownmed is a contoured foam lumbar-support cushion designed to make seated positions more comfortable in an office chair, a favorite chair at home, or a vehicle seat.

Its sculpted high-grade foam is shaped to follow the lower-back contour instead of functioning like a flat pillow. The surface incorporates large and small air pockets that are used to create varied contact across the back while allowing air to circulate between the user and cushion.

This is a seated lumbar support, not a traction device, heating pad, ice pack, or rigid orthopedic brace.

The distinction is primarily shape and intended placement.

A normal bed or throw pillow compresses wherever the chair presses against it. The IMAK Back Cushion is pre-shaped from sculpted foam to sit specifically behind the lower back.

The back cushion has large and small vacuum-formed air pockets across its contact surface. This design provides a pressure-point-style massage effect while helping air circulate behind the back.

The terminology can be confusing: this does not mean the cushion is an inflatable air bladder.

The structural support comes from the sculpted foam. The air pockets are part of the cushion's surface design.

The goal is to support the natural lower-back contour, not to push the entire torso forward.

A practical setup is the following:

1. Sit fully back in the chair.
2. Place the cushion behind the lumbar region rather than high behind the shoulder blades.
3. Adjust its height until it fills the space that naturally forms behind the lower back.
4. Keep both hips supported by the seat rather than perching on the front edge.
5. Reassess the position after several minutes.
6. Move the cushion if it feels as though it is forcing an exaggerated arch or creating a pressure point.

The most comfortable position varies with torso length, chair geometry, and how reclined the backrest is.

Different products address very different goals.

Choose the IMAK Back Cushion when:

• you want support while sitting.
• the primary setting is an office chair, home chair or car;
• you want a foam cushion that travels with you; or
• You want a passive seating accessory without a separate exercise routine.

• a clinician has recommended a lumbar-positioning tool;
• the product will be used while lying on a floor, bed or treatment table;
• lumbar lordosis positioning is part of a prescribed exercise routine; or
• You are already using the Pivotal Therapy system.

No single cushion determines an entire seated posture.

Desk height, chair depth, backrest angle, foot support, screen position, movement breaks, and individual anatomy can all affect sitting comfort.

The IMAK Back Cushion is best understood as one adjustable component of a seated setup: it adds a defined lumbar contour when the existing chair does not provide the amount or location of support the user prefers.

A supportive cushion should not, however, be presented as correcting every cause of low-back pain. It does not diagnose or reverse disc disease, spinal stenosis, nerve compression, fracture, or another underlying condition.

A back cushion and a thermal pack may both be used around the lumbar region, but they solve different problems.

Choose according to the goal rather than treating the two as substitutes.

The removable poly cover is washable.

Remove the cover and follow the care label supplied with the product. Do not assume the internal sculpted foam should be cleaned using the same laundering method as the removable cover.

Inspect the cushion periodically and replace it if the foam becomes permanently deformed or damaged enough that it no longer provides the intended support.
