IMAK® Compression Eye Pillow | Weighted Cooling Sleep Mask
The IMAK® Compression Eye Pillow by Brownmed combines light-blocking coverage, gentle weighted pressure, and optional cooling in a reusable sleep-and-relaxation mask.
Instead of using a flat piece of fabric against the eyes, the eye pillow contains smooth ErgoBeads® that conform around the eye area. The stitched design is intended to keep direct pressure away from the eyelids while the surrounding weighted fill settles across the face. The breathable cotton material provides a softer alternative to a conventional gel eye mask, and the entire pillow can be placed in the freezer when a cooling effect is preferred.
Choose Black or Gray. Both colors use the same general eye pillow design and are one-size products.

What Makes the IMAK Eye Pillow Different?
The Eye Pillow combines three features that are often separated into different products:
Light blocking. The mask conforms around the eye area to reduce incoming light during sleep, travel, rest, or meditation.
Weighted comfort. The internal ErgoBeads create gentle pressure around the eyes rather than relying solely on fabric tension from the strap. The beads are producing a soft massaging effect around the eye area.
Optional cooling. The entire eye pillow is freezer-safe, so the same product can be chilled when cool contact feels preferable to room-temperature, weighted pressure.
That combination makes the product different from both a basic fabric sleep mask and a conventional reusable hot/cold pack.
Eye Pillow vs. Other Comfort Options
| Product type | Light blocking | Weighted pressure | Cooling | Heat | Intended role |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| IMAK Eye Pillow | Yes | Yes—ErgoBeads | Yes—freezer-safe | No manufacturer heat indication | Sleep, travel, relaxation and cooling around the eye area |
| Standard fabric sleep mask | Usually | Usually little or none | Usually not. | No | Primarily blocks light |
| Conventional gel eye mask | Varies | Gel pressure | Usually | Sometimes, depending on product | Temperature-focused facial comfort |
| Uni-Patch Reusable Hot & Cold Gel Packs | No | No | Yes | Yes | General-purpose body-area heat/cold therapy |
| Still Point Inducer | No | Occipital positioning rather than eye pressure | No | No | Supine relaxation and craniosacral-style positioning |
The Uni-Patch Hot & Cold Gel Packs are a better choice when the actual requirement is a reusable general-purpose heat or cold pack rather than an eye covering. They are available in several larger treatment sizes and can be conditioned for either heat or cold.
When might you use the IMAK Eye Pillow?
Sleep and Light Blocking
Use the eye pillow when ambient light is the main distraction but you also prefer more substance than a thin fabric mask.
Its conforming bead-filled construction helps the mask settle around the contours of the face instead of relying solely on strap tension to exclude light.
Cooling Around Tired Eyes
For cooling comfort around tired or puffy eyes, use the eye pillow as directed. Place the eye pillow in the freezer when a chilled application is desired, following the current product directions and your tolerance for cooling.
Unlike a hard frozen pack, the internal ErgoBeads remain distributed around the eye area and provide the product's characteristic weighted feel.
Headache or Migraine Comfort
The eye pillow is for comfort during headaches and migraines as well as sinus discomfort and eyestrain.
That should be interpreted as symptom comfort, not treatment of the underlying cause of a migraine, severe headache, sinus disease, or eye disorder. New, unusually severe or unexplained headaches and visual symptoms require appropriate medical evaluation rather than relying on an eye mask.
Screen Breaks
The eye pillow can also be useful when the goal is simply to close the eyes, block light, and step away from screens after prolonged computer or gaming use. Computer-related eyestrain among its suggested uses.
Travel and Meditation
Because the same product provides light blocking without requiring refrigeration, it can also be used at room temperature for travel, meditation, rest periods, or naps.
Cooling Eye Pillow vs. Ice Pack
The Eye Pillow should not be confused with a conventional ice pack.
| Feature | IMAK Eye Pillow | General ice/gel pack |
|---|---|---|
| Primary design | Eye covering and relaxation | Temperature therapy |
| Material against face | Breathable fabric | Usually plastic or covered gel |
| Internal medium | ErgoBeads | Gel or other thermal material |
| Blocks light | Yes | No |
| Weighted feel | Yes | Varies |
| Freezer use | Yes | Product-dependent |
| Heat use | Not identified by Brownmed | Often available on hot/cold products |
| Wear during sleep/rest | Designed as an eye pillow | Usually not designed as a sleep mask |
If the goal is clinical hot/cold treatment elsewhere on the body rather than an eye mask, compare our Reusable Hot & Cold Gel Packs instead.
Black vs. Gray IMAK Eye Pillow
The choice between the two variants is primarily cosmetic.
| Color | Manufacturer item number | Size | Core design |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black | A30131 | One size | ErgoBeads, breathable cotton, light-blocking, freezer-safe |
| Gray | 52520 | One size | ErgoBeads, breathable cotton, light-blocking, freezer-safe |
How to Use the IMAK Eye Pillow
For room-temperature use:
- Position the eye pillow over closed eyes.
- Adjust it until the bead-filled sections settle comfortably around the eyes.
- Make sure the mask is not creating uncomfortable pressure against the eyeballs or eyelids.
- Use it while resting, sleeping, meditating, or traveling as comfortable.
For cooling use:
- Place the eye pillow in the freezer as permitted by Brownmed's product instructions.
- Remove it when you are ready to use it.
- Position the chilled pillow gently over closed eyes.
- Remove it if the cooling feels excessively cold, painful, or uncomfortable.
Does the Eye Pillow Press Directly on the Eyelids?
The product is specifically constructed to reduce that issue.
Brownmed describes unique stitching that alleviates direct pressure on the eyes, while the surrounding ergo beads provide a weighted effect around the eye area.
That distinguishes it from some flat weighted masks where the fill may rest directly across the eyelids.
Fit still varies with face shape, sleeping position, and personal sensitivity, so discontinue use if the pressure itself is uncomfortable.
Is the IMAK Eye Pillow Washable?
Yes. The eye pillow is washable for repeat use.
Follow the care label that comes with the product, and do not assume that a heated dryer or other high-temperature cleaning method is appropriate.
